    Abstract: Method for detecting the presence of a nucleic acid sequence such as a gene or a gene fragment in a composition or sample which is supposed to contain it. It is characterized in that said composition is contacted with a probe containing a nucleic acid complementary of the nucleic acid sequence or of the gene searched for in certain conditions enabling particularly such hybridation, the probe carrying at least a N-2-acetylaminofluorene group fixed covalently to at least one of the bases of said probe, the possible presence of the nucleic acid sequence or the gene searched for being then revealed by the action of efficient antibodies in relation to the N-2-(guanosine-8-yl)-acetylaminofluorene or antibodies which have been previously prepared in relation to the probe carrying acetylaminofluorene residues.
