The material may be in the form of a sheet material or formed as a container such as a bag, pouch, or other suitable structure. The material may comprise one or more features that help bring the material into close contact with the food item and help conform the bag around the food item. Furthermore, the material may comprise a structure that avoids substantial contact with liquid released by a food item, may have a venting system suitable for the exiting of moisture, may have a coating, a transparent surface, and when formed as a container, may have a gusseted surface.

The turntable tray can be heated by the microwave interactive material so that a peak thermally induced stress occurs in the turntable tray at a position proximate the periphery of the tray. The layer(s) of microwave interactive material are configured in a manner so that the peak thermally induced stress is less than a predetermined amount.

A sealed cooking pouch specifically designed for microwave cooking raw frozen protein entrees containing a raw meat protein portion along with starch, sauce and vegetable portions. The packaging material is manipulated into a pouch shape, meant to receive the protein entree ingredients before sealing, during the manufacturing process. The packaging material is composed of a heat-sealable polyester lager with a thin lager of aluminum deposited on one side and a lager of water-repellant 20 lb - 25 lb. structural paper stock, laminated together through the use of a water-based adhesive. The aluminum can be uniformly deposited centrally (212) where maximum temperature concentration is desired, and deposited in patterns that allow for temperature attenuation in parts of the package (208,210) where this is desirable. The structural paper outer lager is treated with a wax emulsion to repel water that forms from condensation on the outside of the cooking pouch.

The invention relates to a method for producing self supporting container parts, such as dishes or covers, for containers for foodstuffs to be treated in a microwave oven, said containers each comprising at least one compartment for receiving the foodstuffs, along at least part of the circumferential surface of which compartment a microwave-radiation influencing material layer is provided in the wall of at least one associated container part, comprising the steps of providing a multilayer foil comprising said microwave radiation-influencing material layer and at least one material layer that does not influence microwave radiation, which is bonded thereto on at least one side of the microwave radiation-influencing material layer, bonding one side of the multilayer foil to a remaining portion of the container part in question, in such a manner that the material layer of the multilayer foil that does not influence microwave radiation is present on a free surface of the container part. The invention furthermore provides a container part thus produced, a method for producing a multilayer foil provided with holes and a multilayer foil thus produced.
