Abstract:
A sheet post-processing device and an image forming device, wherein a mechanism to orderly arrange sheets and deliver the sheets as a bundle of sheets is reduced in size and cost, a sheet (S1) from a guide device (44) is fed to a tray (12) by a delivery roller device (21), the delivery roller device (21) is reversely rotated when the rear end ( alpha ) of the sheet (S1) is positioned on an arrangement table (41), and the sheet (S1) is fed on the arrangement table (41) until the sheet is allowed to abut on a stopper part (43), though the next sheet (S2) is also fed to the tray (12) in the same manner, the previous sheet (S1) is held by a holding device (51) and remains on the arrangement table (41), the sheet (S2) is also allowed to abut on the stopper part (43) by the reverse rotation of the delivery roller device (21) and orderly arranged on the sheet (S1), and the sheet bundle seamed with a stapler (60) is delivered completely to the tray (12) by the delivery roller device (21).
Abstract:
A method of collecting a copyright fee relating to a document when a user obtains, via coded data disposed on a surface, the document, the method including, in a computer system, the steps of: recording at least one copyright ownership relating to at least one portion of the document; receiving, from a sensing device, indicating data indicative of a request for the document, the sensing device, when placed in an operative position relative to the surface, generating the indicating data using at least some of the coded data; identifying, from the indicating data, the request for the document; providing the document to the user; determining the copyright fee from the at least one copyright ownership; and debiting a user account associated with the user in the amount of the copyright fee.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for notching covers (3) for a book body (2), whereby at least two notches (5, 6) which delimit the spine are made in the cover by means of a notching tool. The invention provides that a set of automatic book body pincers (50) with at least one moveable stopping face (52) is used for adjusting the distance (d) between the notches, and the value for the thickness of the book body (2), said value being determined by means of the automatic set of book body pincers (50), is used for automatically adjusting the distance (d) between the notches (5, 6). The invention also relates to a device for notching book covers (3), which comprises a notching iron (10) with a stationary and a displaceable tool pair (11, 12; 13, 14), whereby the displaceable tool pair (11, 12 or 13, 14) can be automatically adjusted by means of a control unit to the desired distance (d) between the notches (5, 6) that delimit the spine (8).
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an adhesive composition comprising a water based component including a film-forming polymer and a particulate thermoplastic component selected from the group consisting of thermoplastic polymers, thermoplastic resins, hot melt adhesive compositions, and mixtures thereof. The thermoplastic component has a mean particle size of from about 10 microns to about 1,500 microns. The adhesive composition is useful as a one-shot bookbinding adhesive, a primer composition as well as a second-shot adhesive for two-shot bookbinding method. The invention is also directed to the bookbinding methods using the adhesive composition.
Abstract:
A sensing device for use with a surface having coded data disposed on the surface, the coded data being indicative of an identity of a region associated with the surface, said device including detection means arranged to detect the coded data and to generate region identity data indicative of the identity of the region using the coded data, and attachment means for facilitating attachment of the device to a writing implement.
Abstract:
In a system in which a user obtains documents, a method of controlling what is supplied to the user, the method including providing one or more user accounts for the user and providing the or each user account with a separate first threshold, periodically determining the balance in the user account or accounts; and if the balance in the respective user account is below the first threshold, instituting modification of documents supplied or restrictions on what documents are supplied or both.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to hot melt adhesives and a method of using thereof in bookbinding at low application temperature. More specifically, the invention is directed to hot melt adhesives comprising at least one homogeneous linear or substantially linear ethylene/ alpha -olefin interpolymer, optionally, at least one block copolymer, at least one tackifying resin, optionally, at least one plasticizer and optionally, at least one additive and/or wax.
Abstract:
A sensing device for use with a surface, the sensing device including a motion sensor configured to generate movement data indicative of movement of the sensing device relative to the surface, a nib for marking the surface, the nib having associated nib information indicative of at least one surface-marking characteristic of the nib, and a transmitter for transmitting the movement data together with the nib information to a computer system.
Abstract:
A pen including a marking device such as an ink jet head, the pen being operative to mark a visible path onto a surface, the marking device being electronically controllable to change an attribute of the path such as colour or line thickness/style. The pen includes a user interface such as buttons or a slider and a display whereby a user may select and modify the attribute. A sensor is capable of sensing images (e.g. a line with a given thickness, texture or opacity) or colour for inputting an attribute to be selected and which can be stored in a memory of the pen. An attribute may be sampled from a card (1510) which includes a rainbow of predefined colours (1512), an area (1514) for selecting brightness and an area (1516) for line thickness and/or style. The sensor may directly read the image or colour on the card or read invisible coded tags.
Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to simplify the production of books with rounded book blocks. According to the invention, a UV-reactive hot-melt-type adhesive on the basis of a humidity-cross-linking polyurethane is used for the in-line binding of book blocks after the adhesive has been applied. The adhesives to be used contain olefinically unsaturated double bonds, such as present in the derivatives of acrylic acid or styrene for instance, and NCO groups. The processing conditions for the binding have to be chosen in such a way that said conditions result in characteristics in the following areas when a corresponding adhesive film is used: expansion > 100 %, yield stress > 0.5 N/mm and preferably tearing strength > 1N/mm .
