A method for preparing the foam adhesive article is also described comprising (a) melt mixing a foamable polymer composition, and a fiber forming resin to form an expandable extrudable composition, and (b) extruding he expandable extrudable composition through a die to provide the foam adhesive article.

Absorbent products and wet wipes are disclosed that are useful in reducing the amount of ammonia produced by bacteria on or near the skin or in bodily fluids such as urine. The products described herein contain an osmoregulation protector which when introduced into a bacteria-containing environment interacts with the bacteria and reduces the amount of ammonia produced by the bacteria without significantly affecting the growth rate of the bacteria. The osmoregulation protectors described herein are particularly useful in combination with adult incontinence garments where the control of odors from bacterial by-products such as ammonia is highly desirable.

Styrene beads are mixed with an inorganic boric acid compound. The mixture is pre-expanded and then allowed to stand for aging. Thereafter, an inorganic boric acid compound and a thermosetting resin are added to the pre-expanded beads, and the resultant mixture is expanded to produce a foamed styrol product (1). In this product (1), the surface of each expanded styrene bead (2) is coated with a coating film (3). When the product (1) is exposed to heat, the coating film (3) inhibits the styrene beads (2) from burning. Upon exposure to a large quantity of heat, the coating film (3) changes into a glassy coating film, which prevents the styrene beads (2) from burning in deeper parts thereof. The glassy film absorbs black smoke to thereby prevent black smoking.

An expanded, memory molded, increased density, highly impact-resistant polystyrene construct, and method of making the construct. The construct is formed by molding pre-expanded non-equilibrated polystyrene beads to a first volume, cooling rapidly, and then compression molding to a final, smaller volume. The resultant constructs have increased density, and high impact strength without increase in embrittlement. The construct (L) may be multilayered with each layer (11, 12, 13) having a different density. Also, the construct has "memory" in the sense that it returns substantially to its original shape after impact.

A syntactic structural foam product (10) in flat sheet form or curved three-dimensional form adaptable to such uses as a light weight structural core for composite laminates, is made of a mixture of hollow ceramic microspheres (11, 12) and dry resin powder (14), of either thermosetting or a high-temperature thermoplastic resin, distributed in the interstices of the mass of microspheres for integration of the mixture into desired form upon heating and cooling. Resin powder collected as a waste by-product from resin coating materials can be recycled in the production of the desired product. The foam product is produced by first intermixing the microspheres and powdered resin by physical agitation of the mixture and depositing the mixture as a layer over a surface having a release agent thereover within a dimension defining region between boundary members and then supplying heat with or without pressure to the layer at a temperature and for a time period sufficient to effect a melting of the resin powder and thereafter cooling the resin in a hardened condition to integrate the mixture into the product desired after which the product is withdrawn from the forming zone. Reinforcing elements such as glass or carbon fibers (15) can be selectively included in the mixture for predetermined desired physical and mechanical properties.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Polymerzusammensetzung enthaltend Polycarbonat mit einem gewichtsmittleren Molekulargewicht (Mw) von 24.000 bis 33.000 und 5,0 Gew.-% bis 20,0 Gew.-% (bezogen auf die Gesamtmenge der Zusammensetzung) Glashohlkugeln mit einer Alkalinität von kleiner 1,0 meq/g. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung sind weiterhin coextrudierte Platten, in denen die Coextrusionsschicht diese Polymerzusammensetzung enthält, sowie daraus hergestellte Formkörper, insbesondere Behälter und Gepäckstücke, ganz besonders Koffer.Platten, die mit der erfindungsgemäßen Polymerzusammensetzung erhältlich sind weisen eine hohe mechanische Stabilität, eine hohe Kratzfestigkeit, eine ansprechende Haptik sowie einen ausgezeichneten homogenen äußeren optischen Eindruckauf. Weiterhin betrifft die vorliegende Erfindungein Verfahren zur Herstellung dieser Polymerzusammensetzungen sowie ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen Platten.
