Abstract:
The invention pertains to a disposable cartridge suitable for use in detecting the presence of analytes in fluid samples. The cartridge is designed to provide "lab on a chip" capabilities and comprises a plurality of sample storage reservoirs and analytical compartments/channels. A valve system based on valve disks aids in securely transferring samples from storage reservoirs to analytical channels and detectors with minimal use of common channels, which reduces risk of cross-contamination.

Abstract:
An optical signal router for communication systems is described. The optical signal router includes a switch driver that generates a modulation drive signal containing a linear combination of a DC offset voltage and at least three electrical signals. In one embodiment, each of the at least three electrical signals has a frequency that is a unique integral multiple of a bit-rate. The optical signal router also includes an optical switch having an electrical modulation input that is electrically coupled to the output of the switch driver. The optical switch also includes an optical input that receives a time-division multiplexed optical signal including a plurality of optical subchannels. In one embodiment, each of the plurality of optical subchannels includes the bit-rate. The optical switch routes a subset of the plurality of optical subchannels to an optical output in response to the modulation drive signal.
Abstract:
Wireless vehicle charger safety systems and methods use a detection subsystem, a notification subsystem and a management subsystem. The detection subsystem identifies a safety condition. The notification subsystem provides an indication of the safety condition. The management subsystem addresses the safety condition. In particular, undesirable thermal conditions caused by foreign objects between a source resonator and a vehicle resonator are addressed by sensing high temperatures, providing a warning and powering down a vehicle charger, as appropriate for the environment in which the charger is deployed.
Abstract:
Described herein are systems for wireless energy transfer distribution over a defined area. Energy may be distributed over the area via a plurality of repeater, source, and device resonators. The resonators within the area may be tunable and the distribution of energy or magnetic fields within the area may be configured depending on device position and power needs.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for demultiplexing a time and polarization multiplexed signal are described. The multiplexed signal is a combination of component signals, each of which is characterized by a polarization. The demultiplexer of the system includes an input interface over which the signal is received. A polarization demultiplexer receives the multiplexed signal and polarization demultiplexes the signal. Next, a time-demultiplexing stage time-demultiplexes the polarization-demultiplexed signal to recover the original component signals. A clock recovery circuit recovers the clock from the polarization-demultiplexed signal before time demultiplexing.
Abstract:
A bit interleaved polarization multiplexer is described that includes a first and a second modulator. The first and the second modulator modulate a first and a second electrical modulation signal, respectively, onto an optical signal and generate a modulated optical pulse train at a first and a second optical output, respectively. An optical beam combiner combines the modulated optical bit stream generated by the first and the second modulators into a polarization multiplexed optical pulse train. A relative position of each pulse in the polarization multiplexed optical pulse train is determined by an optical path length propagated by the pulse and a relative order of each pulse in the polarization multiplexed optical pulse train is determined by a relative phase of the modulation signal that generated the pulse.
Abstract:
Described herein are improved configurations for a wireless power transfer. The parameters of components of resonators in a system are calculated and adjusted. Some adjustments are performed using a temporary matching resistor chosen to simulate the loading of at least one additional resonator.
Abstract:
Described herein are improved configurations for a wireless power transfer. The parameters of components of the wireless energy transfer system are adjusted to control the power delivered to the load at the device. The power output of the source amplifier is controlled to maintain a substantially 50% duty cycle at the rectifier of the device.
