Abstract:
An alkylated hydroxyaromatic compound is disclosed which is prepared by reacting at least one hydroxyaromatic compound with at least one branched olefinic propylene oligomer having from about 20 to about 80 carbon atoms in the presence of an acid catalyst, wherein the at least one branched olefinic propylene oligomer is substantially free of any vinylidene content. The alkylated hydroxyaromatic compound has been determined to be substantially free of endocrine disruptive chemicals when the effects were quantified on pubertal development and thyroid function in the intact juvenile female rat.
Abstract:
LCD flare is reduced by adjusting a backlight to a level where the LCD flare is not visible, and then introducing a simulated veiling glare. The glare is further adjusted by the backlight simulation to hide the geometry (e.g., LED array) of the backlight. The reduction is performed, for example, by processing signals for driving the backlight and a front modulator in a dual modulation display device.
Abstract:
A modular plastic conveyor belt achieves a very tight turning radius. The belt is configured to permit the belt module rows to collapse using an over/under slotted module geometry, allowing for modules of one row to slip over/under modules of an adjacent row at the inside of a curve. This allows greater collapse and thus much tighter turning radii. A belt of two inch pitch can achieve an approximately 0.33 turning ratio, the ratio between turn center distance and width of belt.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method for preparation of polyolefins containing exo-olefin chain ends. The method involves quenching a cationic quasi-living polyolefin polymer system with one or more hindered secondary or tertiary amines.
Abstract:
Warming personal lubricant compositions, condom products including such compositions and methods of making such condom products are disclosed. The present warming lubricant compositions include at least about 50% by weight of a polyalkylene glycol component, preferably including at least two portions of different molecular weights, and an effective amount of a viscosity inducing component.
Abstract:
A woven papermaker's fabric has a machine side (MS) surface and a paper side (PS) surface, including at least one grooved portion woven in a first repeating weave pattern which comprises cross-machine direction (CD) weft yarns; and at least a first and second set of machine direction (MD) warp yarns, wherein all the warp yarns of the first set are stacked in substantial alignment in a vertical plane perpendicular to the PS surface with warp yarns selected from the first and second sets of warp yarns; and the warp yarns of the second set are interwoven with selected weft yarns to provide longitudinal grooves having a substantially constant cross-section along the MD in at least one of the PS and MS surfaces at groove locations whereby a cross-sectional warp yarn height in the vertical plane through the fabric at each groove location is less than a cross-sectional height of adjacent stacked warp yarns. The grooves are provided either by providing for at least one less warp yarn in one layer at the groove locations, or by adjusting the dimensions of selected warp yarns, either in the cross-sectional height or width. The fabrics of the invention provide enhanced removal of air trapped adjacent to surfaces of the fabric and reduce problems attributable to trapped air, particularly in high speed machines.
Abstract:
A composition for topical application to the skin comprising at least one unsolubilized oil-soluble hydrophobic cooling ingredient having a heat of fusion above 100 J/g and a melting point substantially near body temperature, a polymeric emulsifier in which the cooling ingredient is not soluble, and a cosmetically acceptable carrier.
Abstract:
A multilayer through-air dryer (TAD) fabric architecture having a single warp yarn system with a maximum warp fill and a weft yarn system comprised of two sets of weft yarns selected to set the warp yarn height above the weft yarns without embedment into the fabric plane, the warp and weft yarns interlacing to form diagonal apertures within the fabric to produce a high fabric air permeability for providing increased paper sheet bulk without compromising paper machine running parameters. A method of using the TAD fabric of the present invention for forming a paper sheet having increased bulk and a predetermined embossed pattern. Also, a method for manufacturing a TAD fabric to provide increased bulk and a predetermined embossed pattern of the paper sheet.
Abstract:
A woven industrial fabric, including a plurality of warp yarns 20 interwoven with a plurality of weft yarns 22. At least a portion of one of the plurality of warp 20 and the plurality of weft 22 yarns includes yarn assemblies 12. Each yarn assembly 12 is comprised of at least a first 14a and a second 14b yarn. The yarns 14a, 14b are structured and arranged in the woven fabric so as to be in generally continuous, contiguous contact with each other substantially throughout the fabric.
Abstract:
An embodiment of a hitch apparatus for use with a vehicle for providing multiple connector arrangement options is disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the hitching apparatus comprises a body configured for providing first and second arm portions for supporting a respective hitch connector. The body is configured so that each first and second arm portions both extend away from an axis about which the body is selectively rotatable so as to provide a selected hitch connector (ie. selected by way of rotation of the body) in a loading position for connection with a hitch socket provided with a towable platform.
