Abstract:
Containers (20) for dispensing unitary medicaments such as pills or capsules is provided. Each container comprises at least one gripping member (36) for releasably holding an end of a matrix (40) containing a plurality of unitary medicaments. The container may be assembled together to form a medicament dispensing assembly.
Abstract:
Methods, systems and computer-readable code for generating a forecast of a life-threatening condition, for example sepsis, in a subject, for example an infant, are disclosed. According to some embodiments, the forecast is generated in accordance with measurement values for a plurality of different vital sign parameters. In exemplary embodiments, vital sign parameters from a plurality of physiological systems are used to generate the forecast of the life-threatening condition. In exemplary embodiments, at least one vital sign parameter is other than a cardiac parameter. Non-limiting exemplary vital sign parameters may include one or more of a heart rate parameter, a respiration rate parameter, a bradycardia parameter, a desaturation parameter, a temperature parameter (for example, body temperature) and a body mass parameter.
Abstract:
A container (10) for storing two components separately and then mixing them prior to use includes a housing (12) having an opening (14) and a neck portion (16), a displaceable member (20), and a closure member (48). The housing (12) is formed with a first compartment (18) and a second compartment (38) intercommunicating at the neck portion. The displaceable member (20) has a partition wall (22) for sealing the neck portion (16). The displaceable member (20) is formed such that the partition wall (22) moves from a non-sealing position in which the first (18) and second (38) compartments intercommunicate to a sealing position in which the neck portion (16) is sealed. The displaceable member (20) also may feature at least one conduit for allowing introduction of a component through the opening into the housing. The closure member (48) seals the at least one conduit of the displaceable member and/or the opening of the housing (12). The displaceable member (20) may be moved by rotating, pushing or pulling and may be moveable by a portion exterior to the housing (12). The seal formed by the partition wall (22) of the displaceable member (20) may be reformable, i.e., capable of being resealed. A pre-packaged, single use, two compartment container (10) according to some embodiments of the invention have an unremovable closure member (12), an unreformable seal, an unfastenable closure member (48) after it has been removed or is constructed in a manner or of materials which allow only a single use. The two-compartment container (10) may also include a dosing assembly for dispensing a predetermined quantity of mixed formulation.
Abstract:
A system for collecting, storing and transporting of specimens of a pasty material, e.g. stool is provided. The system comprises at least one container holding a preservation medium for preserving a chemical entity or living matter to be assayed in a specimen, the container being sealed by a pierceable membrane having a closure arrangement for sealing the container after the membrane is pierced. The system further comprises a sampling device having a handle and at least one elongated specimen collecting member detachably attached thereto, the collecting member being adapted to be received within the container and having the pasty material retaining portion and a piercing tip for piercing the membrane at a lowermost end thereof remote from said handle, for piercing said film. Also provided is a stool collecting device for easy collecting of excreted stool.

Abstract:
The present invention concerns a cover (11) for cell culturing vessels and a cell culturing vessel. The cover (11) or the vessel may transit between three positions: sealed (A) for transport purposes, open (C) for extracting or adding to the contents of the cell-culturing vessel; and a vented position (B) which allows communicating of the contents of the vessel with ambient air, for culturing or sterilization purposes, but eliminates contamination caused by gravitation fall of particles from above. The cover of cell-culturing vessels of the invention or the cell-culturing vessel itself may transit between the three positions by a single-handed manipulation.

Abstract:
A single-dosage liquid medication dispensing unit, especially useful for newborns, babies, and young children, comprising a flexible container containing said liquid medication therein and having a nipple-shaped portion with an orifice for allowing sucking by a newborn, baby, or young child, wherein said orifice is initially in an inactive state and is adapted for being activated by a user just prior to being given to a newborn, baby, or young child for sucking. A method for delivering a single-dosage of a liquid medication is also disclosed.

Abstract:
Method for indicating the pediatric growth status of a patient based on a single combined indication value. The single combined indication value is obtained by performing weight, height and head circumference measurements, using these measurements to compute a set of slow average weighted percentile values and a set of fast average weighted percentile values, computing a set of difference values from differences between the fast average and the slow average weighted percentile values, computing a set of weight, height and head circumference augmented values from the difference values and computing the single combined indication value from the set of weight, height and head circumference augmented values.
