Abstract:
Sulfur containing, hydroxyl-telechelic PIBs, hydrolytically and oxidatively resistant, biocompatible and biostable polyurethanes (PUs) made therefrom, and methods for making both are disclosed. Well-defined hydroxyl telechelic PIBs are synthesized by a thiol-ene click photochemical reaction between PIBs carrying unsaturated end groups and 2-mercaptoethanol (HS-CH 2 CH 2 -OH). This regioselective process affords HO-CH 2 CH 2 -S-PIB-S-CH 2 CH 2 -OH (abbreviated herein as HO-S-PIB-S-OH) in high yield. In some embodiments, these HO-S-PIB-S-OH polymers may be reacted with diisocyanates and a chain extender to form sulfur containing PIB-based PUs. These sulfur containing PIB-based PUs have been found to have properties and chemical stability that are very similar to that of PUs made from di-hydroxyl terminated PIBs (OH-PIB-OHs) without sulfur, but have surprisingly increased creep resistance and are easier and less expensive to make.
Abstract:
A family of silicone rubbers (e.g., polydimethylsiloxane) carrying one or more cyanoacrylate groups and their methods of production are provided. These silicone rubbers endowed with cyanoacrylate groups are useful in a variety of wound care applications, including wound closures, adhesives, sealants and skin protectors. The silicone rubber moiety provides oxygen and moisture permeability (i.e., "breathability"), biocompatibility, optical transparency, and good mechanical properties, while the cyanoacrylate group imparts instantaneous adhesion/attachment to living tissues such as skin on par with that of contemporary cyanoacrylate-based wound care products.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a new class of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) and processes for making them. In some embodiments of the present invention, the end groups of the multi-arm PIB copolymer is a conjugated diene, whereas the other component is a multi-functional dienophile. The components of the TPE of the present invention are chemically connected via the well-known Diels-Alder reaction which is thermally reversible (by the retro-Diels-Alder reaction) at moderately elevated temperatures. The reversibility of the Diels-Alder retro-Diels-Alder reactions allows the recovery of the original components of the TPE and thus its recyclability and also gives the TPE the ability to be reshaped or reformed.

In another embodiment, the present invention relates to amphiphilic co-networks formed from the combination of at least one polysiloxane and at least one polyacrylamide. In yet another embodiment, the present invention relates to amphiphilic co-networks formed from the combination of at least one polysiloxane, at least one polyacrylamide and at least one crosslinking agent.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of generating and modifying a playlist (108) using contextual information are disclosed. For example, a user may provide an input seed such as a song name or artist name. The input seed is compared to database items and a playlist (108) is generated as a result. In some examples, the contextual information is used to enhance the comparison and to select better content objects for a user’s playlist (108). Meanwhile, in some examples the content objects in the playlist (108) may be arranged in an enhanced order using ranking and/or contextual information.
Abstract:
A system and method for a network overlay geolocation system operating in a host wireless communication system with repeaters. enable a wireless communication system to determine if signals being received by system receivers arrive directly from a target mobile (701) or if the signals are passing through or via a repeater (702). The system's repeaters use a co-channel AM Golay Hadamard sequence multiplied by an uplink signal to watermark the repeated signal. The system uses the known AM Golay Hadamard sequences of the repeaters and the uplink signal to detect whether a repeater has operated on the signal and which repeater operated on the uplink signal. Management data can be used to provide more accurate geolocation of mobiles served by the repeater stations.
