A method of implanting a soft tissue implant includes: creating a pocket in soft tissue thereby defining the location of the implant; inserting an unfilled shell into the pocket; filling the shell with a biomaterial to a predetermined volume; and curing the biomaterial in situ.

摘要: This invention relates to electrical devices that are implantable inside an animal, including humans. The invention particularly relates to polyurethane headers mounted on the electrical devices to house electrical contacts. The polyurethane headers are formed by (a) mixing (i) a prepolymer comprising a silicon-containing diol of formula (I) in which R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are independently selected from C 1-6 alkyl; R 5 and R 6 are independently selected from C 1-6 alkylene; R 7 is C 1-6 alkylene, O, S or NR in which R is H or C 1-6 alkyl; and n is 1 to 3 and a diisocyanate; and (ii) a C 2-12 alkanediol; (b) injecting the mixture of the prepolymer and the C 2-12 alkanediol into a mould having a cavity shaped to form a header; (c) allowing the mixture to cure and form a polyurethane header within the mould; and (d) releasing the formed polyurethane header from the mould.

摘要: The invention relates to a process for bonding a silicone or silicone based material to a polyurethane and use of the bonded silicone-polyurethane in the manufacture of biomaterials, devices, articles or implants, in particular long term implantable medical devices in the fields of cardiology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery and gastroenterology. The process involves the steps of (a) flame treating a surface of the silicone or silicone based material and (b) bonding the polyurethane to the flame treated surface of the silicone or silicone based material.
