Abstract:
Bioelectrical signals may be sensed within a brain of a patient with a plurality of sense electrode combinations. A stimulation electrode combination for delivering stimulation to the patient to manage a patient condition can be selected based on a frequency domain characteristic of the sensed bioelectrical signals. In some examples, a stimulation electrode combination is selected based on a determination of which of the sense electrodes are located closest to a target tissue site, as indicated by the one or more sense electrodes that sensed a bioelectrical brain signal with a relatively highest value of the frequency domain characteristic. In some examples, determining which of the sense electrodes are located closest to the target tissue site may include executing an algorithm using relative values of the frequency domain characteristic.
Abstract:
Described herein are methods of identifying and releasing bioactive peptides from ovotransferrin The method involves (a) contacting ovotransferrin with a reducing agent, a sonication step, a high pressure processing step, a heating step, a fermentation step, or any combination thereof, and (b) contacting the ovotransferrin after step (a) with a hydrolytic enzyme to produce bioactive peptides that exhibit angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitory activity or antioxidant activity when compared to the parent protein. The bioactive peptides may be added to foodstuffs, a medication, or to any potable, ingestible, or edible compositions.
Abstract:
A method for removing oxide materials from a crack of a metallic workpiece comprises: infiltrating an alkali solution into the crack in a pressurized atmosphere or an ultrasonic environment; applying an energy to the crack to react the oxide materials with the alkali solution and form a resultant material; and rinsing the resultant material with an acid solution to remove the resultant material from the crack. The method is easier to penetrate into the inside of the cracks, in particular suitable for cleaning narrow and deep cracks.
Abstract:

The cable connector can gain excellent third order intermodulation performance and high frequency transmission performance.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes techniques for delivering electrical stimulation to the brain of a patient at a frequency greater than a selected frequency. The techniques may reestablish gamma frequency band activity within the brain of a patient, and thus improve the patient's movements and cognitive states. In one example, the disclosure is directed to a device comprising a processor configured to select a frequency within a gamma frequency band and delivering electrical stimulation at a frequency greater than the selected frequency.
Abstract:
Improved processes are provided for preparing ACE inhibitory peptide containing hydrolysates from a plant material such as a seed meal or flour. In one embodiment, the seed meal or flour is extracted with an organic solvent prior to digestion. Also provided are ACE inhibitory peptides Val-Ser-Val and Phe-Leu.
Abstract:
Systems for delivering electrical stimulation to a patient via a medical device to manage or treat rapid eye movement behavior disorder (RBD) are described. A system comprises a therapy module and a processor that determines whether a patient is in a rapid eye movement (REM) sleep stage, and delivers electrical stimulation therapy to the patient based on the determination that the patient is in the REM sleep stage, where the electrical stimulation therapy is delivered to inhibit movement of the patient during the REM sleep stage. The electrical stimulation therapy may be delivered to the brain of the patient.
Abstract:
Therapy delivery to a patient may be controlled based on a determined sleep stage of the patient. In examples, the sleep stage may be determined based on a frequency characteristic of a biosignal indicative of brain activity of the patient. A frequency characteristic may include, for example, a power level within one or more frequency bands of the biosignal, a ratio of the power level in two or more frequency bands, or a pattern in the power level of one or more frequency bands over time. A therapy program may be selected or modified based on the sleep stage determination. Therapy may be delivered during the sleep stage according to the selected or modified therapy program. In some examples, therapy delivery may be controlled after making separate determinations of a sleep stage based on the biosignal and another physiological parameter, and confirming that the sleep stage determinations are consistent.
Abstract:
Compositions and processes for destabilizing an oil-in-water emulsion resulting from the aqueous solvent extraction of plant oils are disclosed. The processes comprise the use of one or more enzyme activities including phospholipase and protease activity. The processes are useful for improving the extraction of oil from oilseeds, as well as for obtaining more desirable proteins from those oilseeds.
Abstract:
The described embodiments relate generally to methods, systems and devices for sleep stage determination using frontal electrodes. Certain embodiments relate to a system for sleep stage determination comprising a sensing unit and a processing unit. The sensing unit is positioned over a forehead area of a patient and has first, second and third electrodes for positioning at locations on or adjacent the forehead area for detecting electrical potentials of a human head. The processing unit is coupled to the sensing unit for receiving biological signals corresponding to the detected electrical potentials and processing the biological signals to determine a sleep stage of the patient. The processing of the biological signals is based on a plurality of rules.
