Abstract: A nasogastric tube comprising a porous medium for treatment of a treatment area of an internal surface of a body lumen of a patient to be treated; a suction lumen coupled to the porous medium for providing suction to the porous medium; and a radial deployment system operable to deploy the porous medium between: (i) an insertion state for insertion of the porous medium into the patient, and (ii) a treatment state in which an outer surface of the porous medium is moved towards the treatment area of the patient; wherein a window is defined in a body carried by the nasogastric tube; and wherein a portion of the radial deployment system and/or a portion of the porous medium is arranged to move radially outwards through the window to deploy the porous medium from the insertion state to the treatment state.

Abstract: A vacuum therapy device for treatment of a defect internal of a human or animal body, the device comprising: a porous medium for treatment of the defect; a catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the catheter is configured to be inserted into the body to enable deployment of the porous medium through an opening at the distal end for treatment of the defect; and a suction element within the catheter, the suction element comprising a suction tube connected to the porous medium to provide suction thereat; wherein the porous medium is movable between: (i) a proximal position in which a majority of the porous medium is inside the catheter for insertion of the catheter and the porous medium into the body, and (ii) a distal position in which a portion of the porous medium is located outside the catheter for treatment of the defect; wherein a cross-section of the shape of the porous medium includes one or more spokes extending radially outward, wherein two adjacent spokes are separated by a separation region, wherein the separation region is more flexible and/or compressible than the spokes.

Abstract: A vacuum therapy device for treatment of a defect internal of a human or animal body, the device comprising: a suction tube extending from: (i) a proximal portion for coupling to a source of negative pressure outside the body, to (ii) a distal portion for providing suction proximal to the defect when inserted into the body; a porous medium coupled to the distal portion of the suction tube to provide suction to the defect when inserted into the body for treatment thereof; and a constraining sleeve for selective compression of the porous medium, the constraining sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the constraining sleeve is movable relative to the porous medium between: an insertion position in which the proximal and distal ends of the sleeve are arranged at the distal portion of the suction tube so that the sleeve at least partially surrounds the porous medium to retain the porous medium in a compressed state during insertion into the body; and a treatment position in which the porous medium is in an expanded state for treatment of the defect.

Abstract: A deployment applicator for a vacuum therapy device, the vacuum therapy device having a catheter for insertion into a human or animal body and a porous medium movable between a proximal position in which a majority of the porous medium is within the catheter and a distal position external to the catheter, wherein the deployment applicator is configured to control distal movement of a said porous medium relative to a said catheter, the deployment applicator comprising: a drive mechanism configured to move from a first position to a second position in response to actuation of the applicator by a user; a movable element arranged to couple the drive mechanism to said porous medium so that movement of the drive mechanism from the first position to the second position provides distal movement of said porous medium relative to said catheter; a drive lock configured to inhibit movement of the drive mechanism from the second position back towards the first position; and a disengagement mechanism configured to disengage the drive lock to enable movement of the drive mechanism from the second position back to the first position for reloading the applicator for a subsequent deployment of a said porous medium from a said catheter.
