    Abstract: An illumination module is provided that can be inserted into a receptacle that includes a wall and may be mounted on a support surface, such as a heat sink, and the illumination module include a cover and an LED assembly rotateably coupled to the cover. The LED assembly seats within the receptacle which causes terminals of the LED assembly to align with contacts on the receptacle. One of the cover and the receptacle has a plurality of ramps and the other has a plurality of shoulders. The cover can be rotated relative to the receptacle to cause the shoulders to slide relative to the ramps so as to direct the LED assembly into the receptacle. When the LED assembly is attached to the receptacle, the terminals on the LED assembly mate with the contacts on the receptacle.

    Abstract: A transmission line for high-frequency differential signals and having a transforming impedance is formed into a substrate. The transmission line is comprised of a first slot, the opposing surfaces of which carry a conductive surface capable of carrying electrical signals. By virtue of their dimensions, spacing and dielectric filler, the conductive surfaces constitute a transmission line. A second slot, also with opposing surfaces, each of which also carry a conductive surface but which are spaced differently than the opposing surfaces of the first slot, provide a second transmission line but with a different impedance. The impedances between the two transmission lines are transformed by an impedance transition section of transmission line that is slot section the dimensions of which are tapered to meet the different slot dimensions of the two different transmission line segments.

    Abstract: A connector is provided for mounting a module to a printed circuit board. The connector includes a housing having end walls defining a slot for receiving a module. Terminals are mounted within the housing on either side of the slot. Each terminal includes a tail. A solder mass is attached to each tail and is used to bond the connector to the printed circuit board. The solder mass is attached to each tail without the use of a reflow process. The solder mass can be attached to the tail of the terminal either through a mechanical attachment or through bonding. A reflow process is then used to attach the connector to the printed circuit board.

    Abstract: A method of forming an electrical connector is provided. A mask having recesses is provided and solder is dispensed into the recesses. Contact tails from terminals in a connector are positioned below the mask and aligned with the recesses of the mask such that the contact tails either abut against the solder or are in close proximity thereto. As the solder is heated, it melts and flows onto the contact tails and forms masses of solder on the contact tails. The masses of solder are then allowed to cool and harden on the contact tails and the mask is removed. An electrical connector with the masses of solder connected thereto is thus provided.

    Abstract: A connector system includes a first connector with a housing. The housing supports a terminal with an aperture that is positioned adjacent a pocket. A ball is positioned in the pocket and is restrained by the terminal but is configured to partially extend through the aperture. A second connector includes a contact and a magnet attraction member. In operation, when the first and second connector are in a mated position, the ball is urged toward the magnetic attraction member due to a magnetic force and partially extends through the aperture so as to engage the contact, electrically connecting the terminal and the contact.

    Abstract: A hinge for an electronic device is provided. The electronic device has a first half and a second half. The hinge includes a rigid, multi-layer printed wiring board capable of being electrically coupled to the first half of the electronic device, and a flexible circuit electrically connected to the printed wiring board and capable of being electrically coupled to the second half of the electronic device. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a plurality of terminal-receiving passages.     Abstract: An illumination module is provided that can be inserted into a receptacle with a ramp that includes a wall and may be mounted on a support surface, such as a heat sink, and the illumination module include a cover and an LED assembly rotateably coupled to the cover. The LED assembly seats within the receptacle which causes terminals of the LED assembly to align with contacts on the receptacle. Circuitry is provided in the module that accepts an input voltage and converts the input to a desired driving output.
