The optical connector includes a cable having formed therein an optical waveguide, a plug having the cable connected thereto, and a connector housing configured to mount thereon the plug. The cable is provided with a cable-side guide portion. The plug is provided with a plug housing which has a plug-side guide portion and is attached to the cable. Either one of the cable-side guide portion and the plug-side guide portion is configured as a protrusive convex portion, and the other guide portion is configured as a concave portion so that the convex portion is press-fitted into the concave portion, thereby achieving a positioning of the cable and the plug housing.

The lever, rotatably attached to the housing, is configured to be rotatable between a first position, where an initial stage of fitting to a counterpart connector is established, and a second position, where the fitting thereof is completed. The lock portion, capable of locking the lever at the second position, is slidably attached to a body portion of the lever, and configured to be slid between a lock position and a lock release position. The lever is provided with a positioning latch-portion configured to latch the lock portion. The positioning latch-portion is provided with a concave latch-portion and a convex latch-portion configured to be elastically displaced to be engaged in or disengaged from the concave latch-portion.

The lock member is configured to be movably mounted on the connector housing between a first position (Fig.13a) at which the plug may be inserted and removed and a second position (Fig.13c) at which the lock member locks the plug in operative engagement with the connector housing. The plug includes a plug side guide portion (122), a plug side optical connection portion, and a plug side electrical connection portion. The connector housing includes a guide portion (131), an optical connection portion (16), and an electrical connection portion (17). Upon mounting the plug in the connector housing, the guide portions engage so that the optical connection portions and the electrical connection portions are opposed, respectively. Upon moving the lock member to the second position, the plug is securely retained within the connector housing in an electrically and optically operative position.

The optical connector comprises a connector housing, configured to mount thereon a plug which is connected to a cable having therein an optical waveguide, and a lock member, attached to the connector housing in an attitude-changeable state and configured to be capable of locking the plug. The connector housing is provided with an abutting portion, configured to engage a front portion of the plug. The lock member is provided with a detection portion, having at least a portion thereof being positioned in the abutting portion when the lock member is at an open position thereof. When the front portion is engaged with the abutting portion, at least a portion of the plug is brought into tight contact with the detection portion, allowing the lock member to start an attitude changing operation.

摘要： An optical connector assembly for connecting a first optical waveguide has at least one core part for transmitting light to a second optical component having a second optical waveguide with at least one core part for transmitting light. A housing has a receptacle extending in an optical axis direction for receiving and holding the first optical waveguide therein and a mating face oriented generally perpendicular to the optical axis along a mating axis. The housing is configured to mate with another connector housing by relative movement of the connector housings along the mating axis. The first optical waveguide is positioned within the receptacle and has a tilting surface along the optical axis. The tilting surface engages the at least one core part and is configured to direct light in a direction generally parallel to the mating axis.
