    摘要: A method of assembling an optical module that recovers data by interfering signal light with local light is disclosed. The optical module provides a housing with a side to which a signal port and a local port are fixed, and an optical components having a light incident surface whose normal makes an angle θ except for 0° and 90° against the axis of the signal port. The method first adjusts a rotation of the assembling apparatus by (1) setting a tool on the apparatus, where the tool has a pair of sides parallel to each other and a reference side making the angle θ against one of the paired sides, and (2) facing the reference side toward the preset direction. Next, setting the housing on the apparatus in an attitude same with the tool and facing the optical component toward the preset direction above the housing, the process installs the optical component within the housing.

The OSA provides a ceramic package that installs a semiconductor optical device, a joint portion welded to a lid of the ceramic package, and an optical coupling portion that receives an external optical fiber. In the OSA, the seal ring put between the top of the multi-layered ceramic package and the lid is isolated from the optical device; accordingly, the lid, the joint portion and the optical coupling portion are electrically isolated from the semiconductor optical device even when the OSA is installed in an optical apparatus such as an optical transceiver.

    摘要: An optical module and a method to assemble the optical module are disclosed. The optical module comprises a laser unit (10), a modulator unit (20), and a detector unit (30) each mounted on respective thermo-electric coolers (TECs). The modulator unit is arranged on an optical axis of the first output port (3a) from which a modulated beam is output, the modulator unit modulating the continuous wave (CW) beam output (LI) from the laser unit. On the other hand, the laser unit and the detector unit are arranged on another optical axis of the second output port (3b) from which another CW beam is output. The method to assemble the optical module first aligns one of the first combination of the laser unit and the modulator unit with the first output port and the second combination of the laser unit and the detector unit, and then aligns another of the first combination and the second combination. The three units are mounted on separate carriers which are in turn mounted on separate TEC (11,21,31) allowing for separate temperature stabilisation and pre-alignment of optical components for each unit.
