The optical module provides a housing with a side to which a signal port and a local port are fixed, and an optical components having a light incident surface whose normal makes an angle θ except for 0° and 90° against the axis of the signal port. The method first adjusts a rotation of the assembling apparatus by (1) setting a tool on the apparatus, where the tool has a pair of sides parallel to each other and a reference side making the angle θ against one of the paired sides, and (2) facing the reference side toward the preset direction. Next, setting the housing on the apparatus in an attitude same with the tool and facing the optical component toward the preset direction above the housing, the process installs the optical component within the housing.

In a converter 1, the source of an FET 11 and the drain of an FET 12 are connected to one end of an inductor L1 while the source of an FET 13 and the drain of an FET 14 are connected to the other end of the inductor L1. The sources of the FETs 12 and 14 are connected to each other. The cathode and the anode of a diode D3 are connected respectively to the drain and the source of the FET 13. The FETs 11, 12, 13, and 14 serve as switches. Then, the FETs 11, 12, 13, and 14 are turned ON/OFF individually so that a voltage applied by a battery 3 is converted. When voltage conversion is to be terminated, OFF-state of the FET 13 is maintained. Then, during the time that the OFF-state of the FET 13 is maintained, an electric current is reduced that flows from the drain of the FET 13 through a storage battery 4 to the source of the FET 14.

An optical transceiver and a pluggable system to enhance the reliability of the communication between the optical transceiver and the host system are disclosed. The rear of the housing of the transceiver provides a periodic structure, a plurality of hollows or a plurality of projections, arranged along the gasket provided in the host connector. Only portions of the periodic structure come in contact with the gasket, and the repulsive force caused by the gasket is consequently weakened to enhance the reliability of the mating of the plug in the optical transceiver with the host connector. The width of the hollows, or the pitch of the projections is set to be shorter than a quarter wavelength of a signal transmitted between the transceiver and the host system to reduce the EMI radiation leaking from the end of the transceiver.
