Abstract:
An ultrasonic treatment apparatus comprised of: a patient support for supporting a patient, an ultrasound transducer system for ultrasonic treatment of the patient, a region formed in the patient support operable for transmitting ultrasound from the ultrasound transducer system to a treatment zone in the patient, a protective cover for covering the region, and wherein the protective cover is adapted to be removed from the region while the patient is positioned relative to the treatment zone such that the treatment zone is able to receive treatment from the ultrasound transducer system.
Abstract:
A container assembly (20) for transport and disposal of medical instruments is disclosed and claimed. The container assembly (20) preferably has a container body (30) and a lid (22) for use with multiple-sized container bodies. The lid (22) includes a self-closing biased flap (26) and a cradle member for insertion of shap medical instruments and other medical waste without contact by medical personnel during insertion into the container body (30).
Abstract:

Abstract:
In accordance with the embodiments described herein, a surgical tray latch for a surgical tray is disclosed, for use in medical environments, such as surgery operating rooms. The surgical tray latch includes an actuator connected to two or more linkages, the linkages being connected to tray release clasps, which engage and disengage the lid of the surgical tray to and from an associated container. A single-handed operation of the actuator causes at least two tray release clasps to be simultaneously engaged or disengaged.
Abstract:
A container holds at least one surgical implement, has a lock mechanism, and has a signature label that impedes access to the surgical implement until the correct surgical site is confirmed. A method of using the container includes the steps of confirming the correct surgical site, signing the label and removing it from the container, placing the label in the medical record, unlocking the container, removing the implement, and beginning the surgery, wherein the surgical team is forced to pause to confirm the correct surgical site before starting the surgery. Preferably, the container top may be removed and placed between the surgeon and surgical technician to define a no-hands "neutral zone" to avoid being stuck by the sharps. Also, the container preferably includes compartments for storing used sharps and/or a local anesthetic-loaded syringe, and the top may be replaced and secured for safely disposing of the sharps after the surgery.
Abstract:
A reusable sharps container (10) comprising a hollow outer container body (11), a disposable liner (12) located inside the hollow body, the hollow body having a slidable trap door (shown in phantom in Figure 1) (13) which can be removed so that the liner (12) can be replaced and the container having a mouth (14) with a co-operating lid (15) connectable to the container or liner so that sharps can pass through the opening (14) and into the liner (12).
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a housing, a platform, and a buttress assembly. The housing defines a gap configured to receive a portion of an end effector of a surgical stapler. A portion of the platform is exposed in the gap defined by the housing. The buttress assembly is positioned on the platform. The buttress assembly is exposed in the gap defined by the housing. The platform is configured to apply at least two different amounts of pressure against the first buttress assembly in response to a clamping action of an end effector positioned in the gap defined by the housing.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a housing, a platform, a buttress assembly, at least one retainer member, and an indicator. A portion of the platform is exposed in a gap defined by the housing. The buttress assembly is exposed in the gap defined by the housing. The retainer member is configured to selectively retain the buttress assembly against the platform. The retainer member is further configured to release the buttress assembly from the platform in response to a clamping action of an end effector positioned in the gap defined by the housing. The indicator is configured to provide indication of a state of one or both of the buttress assembly or the at least one retainer member. The indicator is further configured to change state in response to a change of state of one or both of the buttress assembly or the at least one retainer member.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an orthopedic surgical set and, more particularly, to an orthopedic surgical set in which an implant having a specific size, which is determined and selected in advance on the basis of scanning information obtained through a medical scanner, to be implanted into a human body through an operation, spare implants, which have a size selected within an error range in preparation for error that may occur between the scanning information and the actual information of a patient, and different kinds of surgical instruments, which correspond to the sizes of the implants, are classified by sizes and fixed in k-th trays, respectively, to be kept in a container so that a doctor who performs an operation can easily select desired surgical instruments, costs for sterilizing the surgical instruments are decreased, and the tray and the container can be reduced in size for easy carrying.
Abstract:
A portable medical waste disposal assembly that offers convenience and safety during use, disposal and maintenance of the disposal assembly. The portable and sanitizable medical waste disposal assembly includes a waste receptacle mounted within a unitary frame providing increased strength and stability to the disposal assembly so as to facilitate transport and sanitization. A positive closure system mounts to the unitary frame and operably interconnects to a slidable lid on the waste receptacle such that the waste receptacle is maintained in a closed disposition unless specifically opened by a user. The positive closure system can be adapted so as to adjustably retain the waste receptacle within the unitary frame while allowing for quick release of the waste receptacle at a time of disposal of the receptacle's contents.
