The present invention relates to improved complexes of amorphous calcium phosphate and/or amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate stabilised by phosphopeptides/phosphoproteins by addition of stannous ions. These complexes have anticariogenic properties useful to protect tooth structures as they remineralize (repair) early stages of dental caries and have other dental/medical applications (including anti- calculus, anti-erosion/corrosion and anti-dentinal hypersensitivity). Methods of making the complexes of the invention and of treatment or prevention of various dental conditions including dental caries, dental calculus, dental erosion/corrosion and dental hypersensitivity are also provided.

Together with other accessories components, the material comprises a mixture of ion exchange resins, cationic and anionic, charged with Ca , F and PO4 ions, with an approximative molar ratio of 2:1:1, respectively. The specially preferred material is the material when the resins have additionally a charge of Zn ions which represents a proportion smaller than 1 %, preferably closed to 0.2 %, of the dry weight of the resin. The preferred resins are those of which the base is cross-linked polystyrene with a 2-14 % of divinylbenzene. The material is useful as primary filler in the treatment of dental decay, specially in deep caries, through remineralisation of the dentine with a composition quite similar to the original, as well as a high microhardness. It is also useful as component of toothpastes, elixirs and dental floss.

Compositions of, methods of making, and methods of using alkaline earth phosphate bone cements are disclosed. A bone cement composition includes a powder comprising a basic source of calcium, magnesium, or strontium, a setting solution comprising H3PO4 and a buffer, and a biocompatible polymer that is incorporated into the setting solution. The powder is mixed with the setting solution to form a bone cement paste that either (a) sets into a hardened mass, or (b) is irradiated with electromagnetic radiation to form dry powders, the dry powders then being mixed with a second setting solution to form a radiation-assisted bone cement paste that sets into a hardened mass.

A light-curable orthodontic bracket adhesive composition is provided for bonding an orthodontic bracket to the surface of a human tooth. The composition contains a particulate filler material, an acrylate-based resin, and a photoinitiator composition effective to catalyze polymerization upon irradiation. A method of using the composition is also provided.
