Abstract:
A disc filtration system comprises a filter element containing microporous plastic discs through which liquid effluent such as wastewater is passed for filtration. The filter disc surface material contains an anti-bacterial agent exposed to the liquid being filtered for inhibiting growth of microorganisms on the exterior of the filter element. The exposure to the anti-bacterial agent inhibits microorganism growth to an extent that prolongs the useful operational filtration cycle life of the filter between backwashing cycles. The invention applies to disc filters having automatic backwashing and manually operated disc-type filters.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a system and a method for well completion, control and monitoring of processes in a reservoir. A combined prefabricated liner and matrix system (4) with defined properties for fast and simple well and/or reservoir completion, monitoring and control is provided. An embodiment of the combined prefabricated liner and matrix system 4 comprises an outer perforated tubular pipe/pipe system 6, an inner tubular screen 7, and a matrix 8. A method for control and monitoring of processes in a well or reservoir using the combined liner and matrix system is also described. The combined liner/matrix system may be used in any process equipment, like e.g. reactors, separators and storage tanks. The system may also be used in a gas/oil/water producing or injection well for well completion, control and monitoring.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a system filter (1) for pond water that comprises a housing (1.1) that has an inlet opening (1.7) for the dirty pond water and an outlet opening (1.8) for the purified pond water, a series of filter zones (3, 5, 7) located in the housing and a predetermined path of flow of the pond water through said filter zones. The inventive system filter is further characterized in that the filter zones (3, 5, 7) in the path of flow of the pond water are located radially one beside the other and concentrically with respect to a center axis (Z).
Abstract:
Semi-permeable membranes made from synthetic polymers are treated with a non-leaching antimicrobial agent to prevent bio-fouling and bacterial breakthrough. The semi-permeable membranes include a polymeric material and a non-leaching antimicrobial agent that is incorporated into and homogeneously distributed throughout the polymeric material. In one embodiment, the polymeric material is cellulose acetate. In another embodiment, which utilizes thin film composite polyamide membranes (10), the antimicrobial agent is incorporated in a microporous polysulfone layer (14) that is sandwiched between a reinforcing fabric (16) and an ultrathin polyamide material (12). The invention also includes a treatment of flat and hollow fiber semi-permeable membranes made with polysulfones and polyvinylidene fluoride. The membranes may be used in reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and microfiltration applications.
Abstract:
The filter assembly has a filter medium (34) provided with end caps (35, 36) that form water-wettable junctions with the filter medium (34). The filter element (34) is encapsulated in a housing (10) which is formed from a plastics material capable of withstanding steam sterilization. This allows the filter element (34) to be steam sterilized in situ and avoids the need for steam autoclaving and aseptic transfer.

Abstract:
A filter has a longitudinal axis with an inner diameter defined by a hollow longitudinally extending center. The filter has fingers extend radially outwardly arcuately from the longitudinal axis. The fingers have base ends near the longitudinal axis and outer edges at extremities spaced from the longitudinal axis. The outer diameter of the filter is defined by the outer edges of the fingers. The filter is formed from a sintered porous molded thermoplastic or another material resulting in a filter more ridig than standard filters. The fingers are spaced apart from one another a predetermined, substantially fixed distance to form slots therebetween sized to capture contaminants therein.

Abstract:
An antimicrobial filter cartridge (10) having a perforated core member (12) wrapped with a first microporous membrane (17), which is in turn overwrapped with a second (18) and a third microporous membrane (19). The membranes are covered with a crisscross wrapping of antimicrobial treated yarn. The filter cartridge is sized so as to fit tightly into a cartridge housing of a fluid filtration system. Fluid passing through the cartridge housing will be filtered by the filter cartridge to remove microorganisms on the filter media.
