摘要: A method and device for separating floated matter such as sludge located near the surface of a fluid body is contemplated that employs pneumatic force to separate the floated matter. The contemplated device employs pneumatic force for lifting and blowing the floated matter into an inlet channel. The device is configured to provide substantially uniform airflow across the inlet channel. The inlet channel of the device may also include an adjustable section which allows airflow velocity along the channel to be controlled in a periodic fashion.

摘要: A fluid conditioning system and method is disclosed for coupling to a first solution source comprising a suspension solution and particles suspended in the suspension solution. The fluid conditioning system includes a containment vessel (36) defining a treatment environment and including a wall defining a fluid passage and having an inlet apparatus (60). The inlet apparatus (60) is coupled to the solution source for receiving a solution stream and directing the solution stream through the passage helically along the cylindrical wall. The containment vessel (36) includes a sparging apparatus disposed downstream of the inlet apparatus for introducing a gas into the solution stream, and an outlet (46) for discharging the sparged solution stream. The system further includes a flotation tank (130) disposed proximate the containment vessel outlet (46) for receiving the discharged solution stream. The flotation tank (130) is adapated to carry a predetermined volume of a second solution to effect flotation of the particles to the surface of the second solution. The flotation tank (130) further includes a tank outlet for exiting processed effluent from the tank (130).

摘要: A compact dissolved-air-flotation (DAF) clarifier (10, 10', 210) treats raw water with suspended solid contaminants first in a flocculator (I, 14, 214) at the center of an annular tank (16, 216) where microscopic air bubbles float flocked contaminants to form a floating sludge layer (12). The flocculator has a fixed, cylindrical sidewall (15, 215). A first clarification, calming and degassing occur here. The water then flows radially outwardly into the tank (16, 216) with a straight cylindrical outer wall (216) where further quiet clarification occurs. A third level of clarification occurs in a lower portion (III) of the tank, specifically, within a set of fixed, inclined lamellae (18, 118), where a final clarification occurs. The bottom wall (16c, 216c) of the tank has a set of apertures (54) which allow a gravity flow of clarified water through a layer of pressurized gas (44) to an underlying collection compartment (38). A set of rotating paddles (280) push the sludge layer up a ramp to an opening (282a) in an inclined discharge conduit (282). The paddles (280) extend generally from the region over the full surface area of the tank (216), to its outer wall (216d), which is preferably cylindrical. The ramp (281) twists about its radial axis, being shallower and longer at its outer edge and steeper and shorter at its inner edge. An offset drive (56) operating through a belt (64) rotates the paddles (280), a movable cylindrical wall (217) surrounding the lower portion of the fixed flocculator wall (215), and at least one scraper (229) secured at one end to the movable wall (217) and extending radially under the lamellae (218).
