The present invention relates to a process for producing a composition comprising an aqueous medium and, disposed in the aqueous medium, a first volume of a first hydrogel, which process comprises: (i) providing a composition comprising a first hydrophobic medium and, disposed in the first hydrophobic medium, a first volume of a first hydrogel; (ii) disposing a volume of an aqueous composition comprising a hydrogel compound around the first volume of the first hydrogel; (iii) allowing the aqueous composition comprising the hydrogel compound to form a gel and thereby forming a hydrogel object, which hydrogel object comprises the first volume of the first hydrogel and a second volume of a second hydrogel, which second volume of the second hydrogel is disposed around the first volume of the first hydrogel; and (iv) transferring the hydrogel object from the first hydrophobic medium to an aqueous medium and thereby producing the composition comprising the aqueous medium and, disposed in the aqueous medium, the first volume of the first hydrogel. The invention further provides a hydrogel object, which hydrogel object comprises a first volume of a first hydrogel and a second volume of a second hydrogel, which second volume of the second hydrogel is disposed around the first volume of the first hydrogel.

The present invention relates to a process for producing a droplet assembly, which droplet assembly comprises a plurality of droplets, wherein each of said droplets comprises: an aqueous medium comprising a hydrogel compound; and one or more biological cells disposed in the aqueous medium, which process comprises: generating, in a bulk hydrophobic medium, a plurality of droplets, wherein each of said droplets comprises: an aqueous medium comprising a hydrogel compound; and one or more biological cells disposed in the aqueous medium. The invention also relates to a droplet assembly comprising a plurality of droplets, wherein each of said droplets comprises: (i) an aqueous medium comprising a hydrogel compound; (ii) one or more biological cells disposed in the aqueous medium; and (iii) an outer layer of amphipathic molecules around the surface of the aqueous medium, wherein at least one droplet in the droplet assembly contacts at least one other droplet in the droplet assembly forming a layer of amphipathic molecules as an interface between contacting droplets.
Abstract:
EVs are connected to onset and progression of numerous diseases and can be used for their diagnosis. Methods and platform technology to isolate EVs and detect intravesicle phosphoproteins from biofluids are discussed. Secreted extracellular vesicles in biofluids are effectively isolated and phosphoproteins are extracted for detection and identification as biomarkers for disease diagnosis using antibodies, mass spectrometry, or other like methods.
