The spray nozzle can be moved reciprocally through the stroke length in the first direction, wherein it may be active only during the forward stroke or the return stroke. The spray nozzle can be moved in the second direction such that edge parts of adjacent strips overlap each other and undergo the same spraying treatment as other parts of the strips. After spraying of a width a determined number of strips the spray nozzle can be displaced through the stroke length in the first direction, whereafter a subsequent width can be sprayed with a number of parallel strips, wherein edge parts of strips in adjacent widths can once again overlap each other. The mist created during spraying can be extracted and separated. The invention also relates to a device for performing the described method.
