Abstract:
A method and apparatus for forming attachment pads on a panel for attachment of a clinch nut thereto The panel (WP) is formed between a forming die (126) and a fixed anvil (36) having a pad contacting surface (40), which occupies a predefined net reference position The apparatus also includes a punch (34), slide block (18) having a protrusion ( 18a) which is engaged by an L-shaped spacer (25), and a retainer block (17) A face plate (26) simultaneously finds the panel and is mechanically locked into position using a novel force applying device The face plate (26) maintains the location of the surface metal around the forming die, thereby forming a raised pad at the predefined net reference position The novel force applying device includes self-contained piston modules positioned in tandem Each module includes a housing having a void and a piston mounted within the void The piston includes a driven and drive surfaces, wherein fluid pressure acts against the driven surface to drive the piston in an advanced direction such that the drive surface of the piston abuts another piston for cumulative effect.

Abstract:
A non-slip material exhibiting a high non-slip effect and applicable even to a faulty part where a through hole is made. A part 7 swelling from the upper surface 5a of a steel plate 5 in the direction of plate thickness is provided with a recess 8, and a drain path 9 leading from the recess 8 to the upper surface 5a of the steel plate. Inner circumferential surface of the recess 8 and the groove side surface of the drain path 9 are directed substantially perpendicularly to the upper surface 5a of the steel plate and formed by half blanked shearing planes 8a, 9a where a through hule is not made in the steel plate 5.
Abstract:
A method of forming relatively hard materials is disclosed. The method includes providing tooling for performing the forming operation on a strip (10) of relatively hard material. The tooling includes a forming tool (22) and a mating die (24) coupled to a high speed stamping and forming machine (70). The tooling and machine are arranged so that the forming operation is performed within a time period that is less than the stress relaxation time constant for the material being formed.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention provides a sheet metal drawing die assembly (100). The die assembly (100) comprises a drawing member (130) having two or more die segments (134) and a collar (140) for binding the two or more die segments together with a pretension force F. During a drawing operation, the pre-tension force F provides the reaction force for plastically deforming a sheet metal (110) at a drawing edge R2 on the drawing member (130). At the same time, the pre-tension force allows the die segments (134) to expand when a drawing force exceeds the pre-tension force, thereby reducing the frequency of die cracking.
Abstract:
A water-soluble lubricant for metal working which comprises (A) not less than 0.01 mass % and less than 5 mass % of a metal salt of an organi carboxylic acid exhibiting a property such that when 1 gram thereof placed in a vessel having a bottom area of 50 cm is held in a thermostat at 100°C, 80 mass % thereof is vaporized within 10 minutes, (B) 0.05 to 20 mass % of a nonionic surfactant, and water; and a method for metal working which comprises a step of applying the water-soluble lubricant for metal working on at least one surface of a thin metal sheet, and a step of subjecting the thin metal sheet to press working or cutting; and an apparatus for metal working which comprises a section for storing thin metal sheets, a driving means for withdrawing the thin metal sheet, an application means for applying the water-soluble lubricant for metal working on at least one surface of a thin metal sheet, and a working means for press working or cutting. The water-soluble lubricant for metal working is excellent in working performance capability and dryablility, and also is significantly reduced in the load upon the environment. The method and apparatus for metal working is suitable for using the lubricant.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a door skin having an exterior surface with an woodgrain pattern formed therein, and an etched plate for use as an embossing plate or with a molded die set, for forming the woodgrain pattern in the door skin. The exterior surface has outer portions lying on a first plane, spaced grooves recessed from the plane of the outer portions, and halftone portions. The halftone portions have spaced protrusions defined by channels, wherein the channels are recessed from the plane of the outer portions.
Abstract:
An anchor with an improved fixing structure comprises a lower part (1a) having a slot (2) for suspending the seatbelt and an upper part (1b) having a fastener tubes for stably installing the anchor on a vehicle body panel. The fastener tube has various shapes with a predetermined height and diameter for providing a proper clearance between the anchor and vehicle body panel. The fastener tube is also integrally and vertically formed from with the upper part of anchor. The anchor with the improved fixing structure is designed not only to eliminate a bushing being used in the conventional anchor assembly, but also to provide stable installation of the anchor on the vehicle body panel. Therefore, the overall assembly cost is remarkably reduced. Additionally, the assembly workers are free form the worry of accidental omitting a bushing during the seatbelt assembly.
