The disclosed concrete anchor driver tool is coupled to a rotary hammer drill to install a concrete anchor. The tool includes a rod having multi-faceted bolt head end, such as a hexagonal bolt head end, and a socket having a multi-faceted opening in the socket end of the socket. The socket is slipped over the rod and held against the bolt head end of the rod by a compressible spring. The concrete anchor driver tool is operated by coupling the concrete anchor driver tool to a rotary hammer drill, slipping the socket over the concrete anchor, and operating the drill in the hammer mode to hammer the concrete anchor bolt into the concrete. The rotary hammer drill is then put in rotate mode and used to rotate the concrete anchor driver tool rod, which rotates the socket, which, in turn, tightens the nut on the concrete anchor.

A belt fastener applicator tool and method are provided. The tool is very simple and provides a low cost tool for applying staple belt fasteners to belt ends. The applicator tool includes a plate body having both anvil and comb portions that are fixed thereto so as to be integrated therewith. In one form, the tool has a one-piece construction so that the plate body and anvil and comb portions are integrally formed together. Preferably, the comb portion includes upstanding comb locating members for receiving hinge loops, and the anvil portion includes both initial set anvil wells on one side of the locating members and a final set flat surface portion on the other side of the locating members. The same tool is used for both initial set and final set staple leg setting operations by turning the tool around with an operator using a hammer for staple setting operations.

The pin (10, 10a, 10b) includes a body portion (12), a pierce ring (16), a flange (24), and a lock groove (26) which is disposed between the pierce ring (16) and the flange (24). An angled surface (28) is provided between the pierce ring (16) and the lock groove (26). A top side (32) of the flange (24) is generally flat so that the flange (24) can be set flush to the workpiece (18), and to enhance the side load strength of the pin (10, 10a, 10b) once the pin (10, 10a, 10b) is installed. A bottom side (34) of the flange (24) is beveled, angled or flat, thereby minimizing the amount of workpiece material which becomes displaced during installation. Upon installation, the pierce ring (16) shears the workpiece (18), and the material of workpiece flows to the lock groove portion (26) of the pin (10, 10a, 10b), thereby forming a mechanical lock between the pin (10, 10a, 10b) and the workpiece (18). A driver (60) and a die (40) are used to install the pin (10, 10a, 10b).

In one form, staples are driven through a belt and clinched in a final set using a power driven tool and a force applying member having multiple drive punches. A lower force applying end on a punch preferably has a first portion to drive the staple and a second portion to drive a leading edge of the belt fastener against the belt thereby distributing the drive force over both the staple and the belt fastener. Preferably, the second surface is shaped similarly to the outboard edge of the upper plate. A pair of adjacent punches can substantially simultaneously drive two pairs of preset staples with each pair of preset staples being associated with one of a pair of adjacent hinged belt fasteners thereby attaching a pair of belt fasteners to a belt in a single operation. The initial and final staple set may be done with the same power tool.
