A tire vulcanizing system, wherein a tire transfer device or a metal mold opening and closing station common to a plurality of vulcanizing stations is disposed equidistant from the vulcanizing stations, whereby an equipment cost and an installation space can be reduced and a production efficiency can be increased.

Method and plant for producing tyres for vehicle wheels in which: each vulcanizer (30) of a plurality of vulcanizers (30) is associated with a respective pick-up logic of green tyres from at least one storage area (20) of green tyres; upon each request to vulcanize a green tyre in a vulcanizer (30) of the plurality of vulcanizers (30), the pick-up logic associated with said vulcanizer (30) is applied to select and pick up a green tyre from the storage area (20); the respective pick-up logic associated with each vulcanizer (30) comprises a first pick-up rule of green tyres from the storage area (20) and, for at least one of the plurality of vulcanizers (30), the first pick-up rule is changed into at least one second pick-up rule at least once during the production in the plant (1) of at least one lot of tyres.

The present invention relates to a method of controlling the management of forming drums in building tyres for vehicle wheels and a plant for production of tyres for vehicle wheels. The plant comprises: at least one building line (12; 14) including at least one assembly (17, 35, 44) of "m" work stations (17a, 17b; 35a, 35b; 44a, 44b), each adapted to form at least one portion of a component of the tyre (2); devices for feeding and picking up "n" forming drums (13, 15), one at a time, to and from the building line (12; 14) at each time interval equal to a cycle time (Tc); transfer devices (31; 37, 38, 39, 41, 42; 46, 47, 48) for respectively bringing and moving apart "m" distinct forming drums (13; 15) to and from "m" distinct work stations (17a, 17b; 35a, 35b; 44a, 44b) of said assembly (17, 35, 44); wherein each of said "m" work stations (17a, 17b; 35a, 35b; 44a, 44b) respectively receives and releases a forming drum (13, 15) at each time interval equal to a multiple of "m" of said cycle time (Tc); wherein "m" is greater than or equal to 2 and "n" is greater than or equal to "m".

Plant for producing types of tyre which are different from each other, comprising: a complex manufacturing unit (2) having a plurality of work stations (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10), each designed to assemble at least one corresponding structural component on at least one type of tyre being processed, a complex vulcanizing unit (3), having vulcanizing moulds (24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29) for the types of tyres which have been manufactured, devices for the functional transfer and movement of the tyres being processed, operating between the said work stations (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) and the complex vulcanizing unit (3), holding stations (22, 23, 24, 25, 26) associated with the said work stations, the number of the said holding stations, of the said moulds, and of the said functional transfer and movement devices being selected with respect to each other in order to obtain series corresponding to the number of tyres of each type to be produced.

During tyre building, a crown structure (7) is built through the actions of: forming at least one belt layer (8a, 8b) on an auxiliary drum (22) for manufacturing a belt structure (8) at least partly; turning up axially opposite side flaps (10) of said at least one belt layer (8a, 8b) formed on the auxiliary drum (22); transferring the belt structure (8) from the auxiliary drum (22) to at least one service drum (31); forming a tread band (9) by winding of at least one continuous elongated element of elastomeric material into coils disposed mutually adjacent around the belt structure (8) carried by the service drum (31).

On a building drum (16), anchoring structures (7) to the beads (7a), carcass plies (10), a belt structure (4) and/or other annular composite components are sequentially assembled with a liner (12), sidewalls (6), sidewall inserts (11), under-belt inserts (14) or other annular elastomer components. Each of the sidewall inserts (11), sidewalls (6), or under-belt inserts (14) is made as a one piece construction in a service station (19) operating far away from the building drum (16), for storage on a movable storing device (26). Actuating members (47) operating on the movable storing device (26) carry the annular elastomer components (6, 11, 14) from the service station (19) to the building drum (16). A transfer member picks up the annular elastomer components (6, 11, 14) from the movable storing device (26) to transfer them to the building drum (16).

Method, process and plant for building tires for vehicle wheels wherein: in a service position of a carcass structure building line, a forming drum is associated with a pair of support elements comprising a first support element and a second support element; the forming drum is moved, associated with said pair of support elements, in a deposition line comprised in the carcass structure building line; and the forming drum is transferred from the deposition line to a subsequent work station of the carcass structure building line. The transfer from the deposition line to the subsequent work station comprises: dissociating the forming drum from the second support element, keeping the forming drum associated with the first support element; transferring the forming drum, associated with the first support element and dissociated from the second support element, to the subsequent work station; dissociating, in the subsequent work station, the first support element from the forming drum, leaving the forming drum in the subsequent work station; transferring the first support element, dissociated from the forming drum, into the service position.

A plant, a method and a process for building tyres for vehicle wheels are disclosed, wherein said building process comprises the following steps carried out in a carcass structure building line (2) : a) associating a pair of support rings (4) with a forming drum (6) in a work station for associating support rings (8); b) building at least one structural component of the tyre being processed on the forming drum (6) provided with said pair of support rings (4) in at least one work station of the carcass structure building line (2); c) removing the pair of support rings (4) from the forming drum (6) in a work station for removing support rings (9); d) transferring the pair of support rings (4) dissociated from the forming drum (6) in a temporary storage for support rings (7); e) building at least one further structural component of the tyre being processed on the forming drum (6) without the pair of support rings (4) in a work station of the carcass structure building line (2).
