Abstract:
The present invention is directed to curable film-forming compositions comprising: (a) a polymeric binder comprising a polyester having hydroxyl functional groups; and (b) a curing agent comprising a polyisocyanate having at least three isocyanate functional groups. In certain embodiments, after application to a substrate as a coating and after curing, the compositions demonstrate a Fisher microhardness of at least 120 at ambient temperatures of 15 to 25°C and a softening point greater than or equal to 35°C. Additionally, in certain embodiments, after application to a substrate as a coating and after curing, the compositions demonstrate a 20° gloss recovery of at least 75% when subjected to the dry abrasion test method.

Abstract:
A composition comprises organoborane polyamine complex and polyol. The composition can form a part of a polymerization initiator system that also includes polyisocyanate. The system can be used to initiate polymerization of acrylic monomer and to form a polyurethane/polyurea acrylic adhesive that has exceptionally good adhesion to low surface energy polymers.

Abstract:
Provided are two part hybrid adhesives that comprise an organoborane amine complex, a polyamine, a component polymerizable by free radical polymerization, and a polyisocyanate component. An isocyanate terminated prepolymer can advantageously be used in the practice of the invention. The adhesive is particularly well suited for low surface energy plastic bonding.
Abstract:
An aqueous dispersion of polyurethane composites is made by forming a dispersion of urethane prepolymer or polymer and ketone functional molecular by dispersing them in an aqueous media and adding a hydrazine functional molecule. When the ketone functional molecule is derived from levulinic acid and epoxidized vegetable oil, the resulting urethane dispersion has enhanced coalescence with less need for coalescing aids.
Abstract:
The use of a monomer as the solvent in both components of a urethane polymerization system eliminates the need for the expenditure of much energy to remove solvent from the cured resin. The exotherm of the urethane cure supplies the heat for the activation of a relatively thermally stable free radical catalyst which then catalyzes the curing of the monomer. The two component system is stable in storage.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to polyurethane ionomers based on polytrimethylene ether glycol ("PO3G"), aqueous dispersions of such polyurethanes, and their manufacture and use.
