Provided is composite carbon fibers in which polymers having an amino containing group are covalently bonded to the surface of the carbon fiber. Aspects are also directed to processes for preparing the composite carbon fibers. Additional aspects are directed to reinforced composites comprising a resin matrix and the composite carbon fibers, and to processes of making such reinforced composites.

A method of manufacturing polyimide particles, including: combining a polyimide solution including a polyimide and an organic solvent with an aqueous solution including water in the presence of an emulsifying surfactant at a shear rate from 1,000 to 3,000 revolutions per minute, from 1,000 to 2,500 revolutions per minute, or from 1,500 to less than 2,500 revolutions per minute to form an emulsion; removing the organic solvent to form an aqueous polymer dispersion including polyimide particles; and recovering the polyimide particles, which have a spherical morphology, and a volume based D10 diameter from 3 to 50 micrometers, preferably from 3 to 45 micrometers and a volume based D90 diameter from 3 to 80 micrometers, from 3 to 75 micrometers, or from 3 to 45 micrometers and a volume based D100 diameter from 3 to 100 micrometers, from 3 to 75 micrometers, or from 10 to 75 micrometers.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Formkörpers aus treibmittelhaltigem Schaumstoff mit mindestens einer Faser (F), wobei die mindestens eine Faser (F) in den treibmittelhaltigen Schaumstoff teilweise eingebracht wird. Die beiden nicht vom treibmittelhaltigen Schaumstoff umschlossenen Enden der jeweiligen Faser (F) ragen somit aus einer Seite des entsprechenden Formkörpers heraus. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist außerdem der Formköper als solcher. Ein weiterer Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Paneel, das mindestens einen solchen Formkörper, hergestellt nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren, sowie mindestens eine weitere Schicht (S1) umfasst. Außerdem Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist die Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen Paneele sowie deren Verwendung, beispielsweise als Rotorblatt in Windenergieanlagen.

An improved process for dispersing filler particles in a resin composition is disclosed. The filler particles, for instance electrically conductive or metal particles, are mixed with a resin material or blend of materials including a resin material to form a mixture that is subjected to an acceleration force. The acceleration force can be generated by passing the mixture through a static nozzle having particular dimensions to generate an acceleration of the mixture in the nozzle in excess of 400,000 m/sec 2 . The treated particles become uniformly dispersed in the resin composition and a reduction in average particle size of the filler material can be achieved.
