A plasma assisted gasification system with an indirect vacuum system for drawing syngas through a reactor vessel is disclosed. In particular, the plasma assisted gasification system is configured to draw syngas through the combustion reaction zone, the syngas collection chamber, the syngas heater and the syngas outlet in the reactor vessel. The plasma assisted gasification system may include a reactor vessel with distinct reaction zones that facilitate greater control and a more efficient system. The system may include a sealing system for a continuous feed system of a gasifier enabling an inlet opening of a feedstock system to remain open yet seal the reactor without a mechanical system. The system may include a syngas heater channeling syngas collected downstream of the carbon layer support and to the pyrolysis reaction zone. The system may further include an agitator drive assembly that prevents formation of burn channels with in the fuel.

In the method, a first oxidant can be introduced to a gasifier and a first hydrocarbon feedstock can be introduced to the gasifier downstream of the first oxidant. The present invention provides a much safer solution to pressurizing oxygen-containing gas feed lines at the start up of an oxygen-containing gas using process unit. All piping downstream of the main oxygen-containing gas block valve is pressurized with inert nitrogen prior to introducing the oxygen-containing gas into the piping. By equalizing with nitrogen it removes the hazard of slowly pressurizing the piping with the oxygen-containing gas and exposing the oxygen-containing gas to the substantial pressure drop associated with pressurizing piping to a high pressure.

Urban waste is compressed into briquettes that can subsequently be gasified to produce fuel gas, which can subsequently be used to produce electricity and steam. Combustible refuse is fed into a briquetting machine. High compression is used in forming the briquettes to drive out much of the attendant water and produce a briquette that is resistant to decomposition. These briquettes can be used immediately or can be stored for relatively long periods of time before use. When the briquettes are gasified, the resulting fuel gases are of sufficiently high quality that they can be ignited and used to drive a jet turbine for producing electricity and subsequently to create steam. The steam so created can itself be used to drive electricity-generating turbines, or can be used as process steam in whatever capacity necessary.

The invention relates to a method for gasifying carbon carriers and for further treating the produced gas. According to the invention, a gasifier is supplied with carbon carriers which are gasified by injecting oxidizing agents. Said produced gas is recovered from the dome of the gasifier, and the hot gas is used as a reducing agent during the production of pig iron or after cooling and cleaning the produced synthesis gas. In the gasifier, a gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen is produced from regenerative carbon carriers, petroleum coke, recycled plastic, waste rubber and/or carbon by adding an oxidizing agent. In order to heat and start the gasifier, a hot oxygen-containing combustion gas is used. The invention also relates to an associated system.
