A cable (1) comprises a first thimble (2) and a second thimble (4), at least one yarn (6), and at least a first conductive fibre (8) for monitoring the cable (1). The yarn (6) extends from the first thimble (2) to the second thimble (4), turns around the second thimble (4), extends from the second thimble (4) to the first thimble (2), and turns around the first thimble (2). Each thimble (2, 4) holds a stack (9) of layers (10) of turns of the yarn (6). The first conductive fibre (8) is designed to signal the wear of the yarn (6) by breaking after a predetermined portion of the turns of the yarn (6) breaks. The first conductive fibre (8) is positioned at the first thimble (2) between the turns of the yarn (6) at less than 50% of the stack height (h).

The present invention concerns a rope (1) comprised of a band (2), mainly having a linear extension with flat faces and a substantially flattened straight cross-section, said rope (1) comprising two pins (11) spaced each other along an axis (y) passing between said pins (11), said band (2) being wound up on said two pins (11), in such a way to continuously form a plurality of overlapped coils, wherein the plurality of band portions (2) extending parallel to said axis (y) passing between a pin (1 1) and the other (11) realize two arms (1', 1") and a bending point (5, 6) in correspondence of each pin (11), said rope (1) comprising at least one clamping device (8; 10; 20; 30; 40; 50) near at least one of said bending points (5, 6), able to direct, from outside toward inside said rope (1), each of said arms (1', 1") in at least one counter-bending point (1 7, 18; 27; 37; 47; 57) in order to block the mutual sliding of said plurality of band (2) portions and the rotation of said rope (1) around at least one of said pins (11), as a result of a loss of balance of the load applied on said rope (1).

Each wire of the plurality of wires has a corresponding non-circular cross section configured to have a corresponding surface contact area with an adjacent wire of the plurality of wires. The corresponding contact area is substantively greater than a surface contact area of a circular wire having a diameter substantively identical to a largest inscribed circle for the corresponding non-circular cross section. The winding surrounding the plurality of wires is configured to hold the wires in parallel within the strand. The strand, with the plurality of wires within, has a hexagonal shape.

A cable or rope (1) comprising a cable or rope structure (4) and a sheath (2), the sheath (2) comprising at least one translucent or transparent section (3) and at least one section which is opaque. Thereby the cable or rope (1) is provided with weather protection or an aesthetic finish, whilst still allowing inspection of the cable structure or rope structure (4) in situ. A method of manufacturing the cable or rope (1) and a method of inspecting a cable structure of rope structure (4) is disclosed, too.
