    Abstract: A plastic window (10) for use in a motor vehicle includes a plastic panel (16) having portions defining an edge (12) about a perimeter of the panel and a window flange (18) integral to the plastic panel. The window flange is positioned adjacent to the edge and extends at least partially there along. The window flange (18) includes an engagement feature (21, 26) configured to engage a corresponding engagement feature (34) of a window frame (30). A window assembly (40) includes the plastic window and a window frame configured to be attached to a motor vehicle. The window frame has portions forming the corresponding engagement feature which receive the engagement feature of the window flange to secure the plastic window to the window frame. A method of installing a window on a motor vehicle is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A dual rack and pinion system is provided for a window lift mechanism. The window lift mechanism includes improved window brackets for simple mounting to a window. A modular frame design is provided to improve assembly of the window lift mechanism into the door of a vehicle. An improved assembly method is provided for the dual rack and pinion system. The system is also provided with a smart motor and incorporates resilient shock absorbers in the dual rack and pinion gear train to allow more time for the smart motor to detect and react to an obstruction in the window. The window lift mechanism includes a support bracket mounted to the window and a motor supported on a support bracket, wherein the support bracket permits axial and rotational movement of the window relative to the support bracket.

    Abstract: A closure assembly for a motor vehicle includes a closure member, a guide track and a carrier operably secured to the guide track for movement along the guide track and carrying the closure member therewith. A rack has a plurality of teeth and extends along the guide track. A pinion gear is carried by the carrier and has teeth engaging the rack. A motor is operably connected to the pinion gear to selectively move the closure member from one position to another.     Abstract: An electro-mechanical actuator (1) including a plurality of motors (2, 3) for driving an output shaft (10). The actuator may be incorporated into a window lift mechanism (30), such as a mechanism including a dual rack and pinion assembly (1314). According to another aspect of the invention there is provided a variety of anti-back-drive mechanisms, e.g. clutches. A clutch according to one embodiment includes locking pawls (1616, 1618) that resist back-drive. In another embodiment, locking cams (2108) rotate relative to a carrier (2106) to resist back-drive. An actuator consistent with the invention may incorporate an impact mechanism (2616) including a flexible carrier (2618). The carrier (2106) flexes to prevent impact forces at an output gear train (2610, 2612) from coupling to an input gear train (2604, 2606).
