In order to improve a piping comprising at least one pipe (20) and reinforcement (26) on the outer wall (24) of each pipe in such a way as to increase the maximum permissible internal operating pressure, it is proposed that the reinforcement should be capable of expansion along the length of the pipe and capable of contracting radially in such a way that a bias pressure can be applied to the pipe around its circumference by the longitudinal expansion of the reinforcement.

A method for sealingly interconnecting a component designed to receive a liquid, particularly a micropump (20), which component has at least one glass wall (10) with an opening for said liquid, and a member (22, 24) also designed to receive the liquid, particularly a tubing (22). The method comprises the steps of providing a connector (30) made of silicon; sealingly attaching one surface of the connector to said glass wall (10); depositing a gold layer (38) on the planar surface of the member around said opening; and heating at least the contact area between said surfaces to a predetermined temperature T to form a eutectic between the silicon and the gold, whereby a seal is achieved between said connector and said member.

A glass tube (10) with an inner thread (16) in its end section (12) can be screwed to a second glass tube (20) with an outer thread (22), together with a pressure-tight annular seal (26). A process for producing such a glass tube is also disclosed, as well as a device that is particularly suitable for implementing this process. At a distance from the thread (16) a radially projecting annular bearing surface (32) is arranged on the inner surface of the glass tube (10), adjacent to a thicker walled section (18) of the glass tube (10) that has the same inner diameter (24) as the bearing surface (32), whereas the outer diameter (34) of the glass tube (10) is essentially constant. The inner thread (16) and the thick-walled section (18) are formed in a single operation inside the glass tube (10) by plastic deformation. The deformation is essentially effected by uniformly pressing the heated glass tube (10) on a mandrel-shaped moulding body (130) by means of several shaping rollers (86, 96, 98, 100).

An apparatus and method for manufacturing glass objects comprising a glass blowing pipe and a metal mounting device configured to melt with glass to form a glass piece that is easily removed from the glass blowing pipe without the need to break the glass from the headstock of the glass blowing pipe, wherein the metal mounting device comprises a contact patch and a number of slits to secure the metal mounting device to the glass. A method for manufacturing a glass object utilizing a metal mounting insert is described. A glass object having a metal mounting insert for installation and use in other applications is also described.
