    摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for separating droplets of finely aerosolized elemental mercury from a gaseous stream in which the droplets are dispersed. In the method, a precious metal wire capillary surface or precious metal-coated wire capillary surface is contacted with the gaseous stream, causing the aerosolized droplets to deposit on the capillary surface and by capillary action to coalesce with other of such droplets. The surface is oriented to allow the mercury to flow by gravitational forces and capillary action to the lowermost portions of the surface, where it accumulates and can be collected. Metallic capillary surfaces comprised of finely braided strands of silver, gold, palladium, platinum, or rhodium wire, or wire coated with one or more of these metals, are particularly preferred.

    摘要: A method for the reduction of the emission of mercury into the environment from the burning of fossil fuels with the use of polydithiocarbamic compounds. The polydithiocarbamic compounds are used for the capture of mercury from the resulting flue gases using a flue gas desulfurization systems or scrubbers. The method uses polydithiocarbamic compounds in conjunction with a scrubber to capture mercury and reduce its emission and/or re-emission with stack gases. The method is a unique process of reducing the toxic levels of mercury, which allows for the use of coal as a clean and environmentally friendlier fuel source.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for treating an exhaust or waste gas stream using Silic Pollution Reduction System (SPRS) is provided to remove at least one unwanted material to clean the exhaust or waste gas stream by gas stabilisation to allow the cleaned gas stream to be discharged directly to atmosphere. The apparatus includes at least three treatment stations for treating the exhaust or waste gas stream in sequence, in which at least one treatment station is a wet reactor containing a nucleating or precipitating liquid for removing the unwanted material as a solid and for oxygenating the remaining gas stream from which the unwanted material has been removed, and at least one treatment station is or has a gas compressing stage or component for compressing the gas stream being treated. The advantage of the method and apparatus is that the treated gas stream can be discharged directly to atmosphere with reduced amounts of pollutants.
