Abstract:
The present invention refers to a method for and a device to be used when preparing a milk sample. A milk sample containing a first constituent and a second constituent is provided and supplied to the device comprising a first section (1), a second section (2), a third section (3) and fourth section (4). The milk sample is centrifuged to obtain a plurality of sample parts including a first sample part of a first volume, in which first sample part the first constituent is contained, and a second sample part of a second volume, in which second sample part the second constituent is contained. A solution is provided and supplied to the device. At least one of the sample parts is removed from the milk sample. A remaining sample part and the solution are mixed to form a sample mixture in which the remaining sample part is distributed. The sample mixture is discharged from the device.

A method for operating a nucleic acid sequencing instrument with movable flow cells. The method includes providing a flow cell having a flow path with an inlet port and an outlet port and filling the flow path, from the inlet port to the outlet port, with a first liquid reagent. The method also includes providing a station block having an inlet passage and an outlet passage, mounting the flow cell on the station block with the inlet port in fluid communication with the inlet passage and the outlet port in fluid communication with the outlet passage, introducing a gaseous bubble into the inlet port, conveying a second liquid reagent from the inlet passage into the inlet port to move the gaseous bubble through the flow path and into the outlet passage and fill the flow passage with the second liquid reagent, and removing the flow cell from the station block.

The apparatus comprises a levelling mechanism having an upwardly directed reference surface adjustably mounted on a frame for supporting the base of liquid sample containers in substantially level orientation. The apparatus further comprises a container positioning member having a horizontally extending main body formed with a plurality of substantially vertical container- receiving sockets. These sockets are each open at their bottom ends, so as to allow the bases of liquid sample containers to project therethrough while held within the sockets adjacent their top rims. In this manner, when the container positioning member is placed down upon the levelling mechanism, the bases of the sample containers come to rest in contact with the reference surface. Such action levels the containers to facilitate accurate automated volume measurements of liquid samples within the containers to be taken, which accuracy, in turn, increases the accuracy of automated particle counts subsequently made with the liquid samples.
Abstract:
A system for the automated dilution and delivery of mixtures of diluent and liquid samples to a particle counter comprises a container positioning member for receiving and retaining congruent sample containers with a volume of liquid sample therein. An automated diluent pumping mechanism draws a respective volume of a diluent from a diluent source and introduces the diluent into the each sample container for mixing with the unknown volume of liquid sample within each sample container to together form a mixture that is substantially equal to a pre-determined threshold volume. A mixer agitates the mixture in the sample containers. An automated mixture pumping mechanism sequentially draws a respective volume of mixture from the sample containers and delivers the drawn volume of the mixture to the optical particle counter for testing.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de connexion fluidique pour appareils d'analyse biologique, destiné à relier simultanément une pluralité de conduites de fluide (10) et au moins un composant fluidique (3) comprenant une surface de liaison avec une pluralité d'accès fluidiques (11), ledit dispositif comprenant : (i) une platine de maintien (1), (ii) des moyens de fixation amovibles (5) aptes à presser ladite platine de maintien (1) contre ladite surface de liaison, (iii) des raccords (2) aptes à être fixés à l'extrémité des conduites de fluide (10) et pourvus de moyens d'étanchéité (4) aptes à permettre l'établissement d'une liaison étanche entre lesdits raccords (2) et lesdits accès fluidiques (11), ladite platine de maintien (1) comprenant des ouvertures traversantes en regard des accès fluidiques (11) et étant conformée de telle sorte à pouvoir recevoir lesdits raccords (2) dans lesdites ouvertures traversantes et à les maintenir pressés contre la surface de liaison. L'invention concerne aussi un appareil d'analyse biologique mettant en œuvre le dispositif.
