Abstract:
A digital image capture and processing system, and software development environment, that supports manufacturer-constrained system behavior modification and/or extension by end-users and third-parties through the development and installation/deployment of plug-in modules within the application layer of the system by persons other than the original system designers. By virtue of the present invention, the standard features and functionalities of such systems can now be flexibly modified and/or extended by end-users and third-parties (e.g. VARs, OEMs etc), and thus satisfy customized end-user application requirements, without possessing or acquiring detailed knowledge about the hard-ware platform of the system, its communication interfaces with the outside environment, and user-related interfaces.
Abstract:
The invention regards a method for improving the depth of field in the detection of a linear optical code, comprising simultaneously forming two or more overlapped equally focused but differently diaphragmed in phase images of an optica code onto a linear sensor. Diaphragms and optical receiving devices suitable to implement the method are described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method of detecting polarized identification indicia in real-time. A frame of image data is provided (110) having a plurality of pixels, wherein each pixel includes polarized light intensity information. An intensity value is determined for each of the pixels from the polarized light intensity information (120). A first portion of the pixels having intensity values within an intensity range is selected (130, 140). The pixels in the first portion having similar angle of linear polarization values within a tolerance range are analyzed (180), thereby detecting the polarized identification indicia in the image data (190).

Abstract:
Provided is a labeling apparatus that generates a label for labeling a drug container at a healthcare facility. The labeling apparatus includes a code reader that reads a computer-readable code encoding a drug to be stored by the drug container and transmits a signal indicative of the identity of the drug in response to reading the computer-readable code. A non-transitory computer-readable memory stores a drug formulary comprising a plurality of drug entries. A processing component is configured to identify, from the formulary, the identity of the drug corresponding to the computer- readable code and receives a patient identity from a computer-accessible source. A printer is operable to print label content identifying the specific drug onto a label that is to be applied to the drug container. The label content includes the identity of the drug and the patient identity encoded by a label code that is computer-readable.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The inventive concept relates to a product authentication and identification device using a liquid barcode formed by liquid bars stored in liquid chambers. For example, according to the inventive concept liquid barcodes and a liquid barcode reader for reading liquid barcodes used for product authentication and identification of thin-film chemical analyzers such as a lab-on-a-disc and a bio disc in which bio chips such as a lab-on-a-chip, a protein chip, and a DNA chip for diagnosing and detecting a small amount of material in a fluid are integrated, a credit card, or other products can be provided.
Abstract:
A system is provided for selecting a particular barcode on an item that includes multiple barcodes. The system (1) acquires, via a barcode imager, an image of the item within the field of view of the barcode imager, (2) analyzes the acquired image to determine a set of potential barcode fields, (3) determines, using a predetermined criterion (e.g., distance from center of imaged area, type of bar code, etc.), a candidate barcode field from among the set of potential barcode fields, (4) displays a modified image derived from the acquired image, wherein the candidate barcode field is identified within the modified image, and (5) allows the user to initiate a decode session when the candidate barcode field includes the desired barcode. The acquired may be modified to highlight the candidate barcode field in any number of ways, including, for example, superimposing an artificial reticule around the candidate field, superimposing an artificial scan line over the field, altering the contrast of the field, and/or altering the brightness of the field.
Abstract:
A bar code scanner uses a narrow slit instead of focusing optics. The slit may be formed by chemically etching a thin metal plate and, in use, may be protected by a transparent cover.
