Methods and systems are provided for presenting media content with reduced latency. An exemplary method involves obtaining, by a tuner at a media device, media content broadcast on a broadcast channel and buffering, at the media device, a recent subset of the media content in a buffer associated with the tuner. In response to selection of the broadcast channel for presentation on a destination device coupled to the media device, the method continues by transcoding at least a portion of the buffered subset of the media content at the media device and providing the transcoded subset of the media content to the destination device.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for delivering multimedia content from the cloud to cable operators are disclosed. A device located at the cable headend or implemented in the cloud can receive a request for at least one media stream for playback on a broadcast media channel. Content corresponding to a plurality of multimedia files in the media stream can be obtained from the internet or a cloud based service. The content can be used to generate the multimedia files in a format that is compatible with the cable operator. The multimedia files can be used to assemble the at least one media stream which can be provided to the cable operator for broadcast on the broadcast media channel.

Buffer optimization techniques are described herein in which a graphics processing system is configured to implement and select between a plurality of buffer schemes for processing of an encoded data stream in dependence upon formats used for decoding and rendering (e.g., video format, bit depth, resolution, content type, etc.) and device capabilities such as available memory and/or processing power. Processing of an encoded data stream for display and rendering via the graphics processing system then occurs using a selected one of the buffer schemes to define buffers employed for the decoding and rendering, including at least configuring the sizes of buffers. The plurality of schemes may include at least one buffer scheme for processing the encoded content when the input format and the output format are the same, and a different buffer scheme for processing the encoded content when the input format and the output format are different.

Each of the plurality of input ports is configured to receive a respective input signal for one of the plurality of services. The processor converts each of the received input signals into a standardized common digital format. An Ethernet switch receives the converted input signals in the standardized common digital format, decodes and analyzes the received converted input signals, and provides the converted input signals to a respective set top box.

A method of content-based self-adaptive video transcoding, which includes: acquiring a minimum quantized value representative of a content complexity of a video to be transcoded and satisfying a preset objective quality standard; setting a value of transcoding parameter based on the minimum quantized value representative of the content complexity of the video to be transcoded and a video parameter value of the video to be transcoded; and transcoding the video to be transcoded based on the set transcoding parameter to generate a target video. The present disclosure further provides an apparatus of content-based self-adaptive video transcoding. The method provided by the present disclosure can avoid unnecessarily bandwidth consumption while ensuring the quality of the transcoded video.

A process for converting a DTCP-IP transport stream into HLS format, comprising receiving an encrypted DTCP-IP transport stream comprising DTCP frames at a secondary device from a source device, with each of the plurality of DTCP frames comprising encrypted 16-byte portions, forming chunks from the DTCP frames by grouping encrypted 16-byte portions into a chunk, adding HLS padding bytes to the end of each chunk and encrypting the HLS padding bytes to form an encrypted chunk, loading each of the encrypted chunks and a playlist to a media proxy server at the secondary device, loading a DTCP key onto a security proxy server, and providing the playlist, each of the encrypted chunks, and the DTCP key to a native media player on the secondary device, such that the native media player follows the playlist to decrypt the encrypted chunks using the DTCP key and plays back the chunks.
