Abstract:
A marine flexible laminate system at a minimum includes a primer layer and an adhesive layer. The system optionally includes at least one functional top coating layer which may be applied either underwater or before submersing. Other layers include a backing layer and a heat curing layer. The marine laminate is directly applied to one or more surfaces submerged underwater by contacting the submerged surface with the adhesive layer of the flexible marine laminate.
Abstract:
A fire blocking non-woven needlepunched textile structure, comprising a first fiber component containing polyacrylonitrile copolymer with a halogen containing monomer and a second fiber component. The second fiber component is selected such that it supports the first fiber component during burning, optionally including an inorganic filler as a coating for the first and second fiber components. In alternative embodiment, the present invention provides a fire blocking non-woven textile structure containing the above first and second fiber components, blended with a third binder fiber component in the form of a vertically lapped nonwoven structure.
Abstract:
A coform nonwoven web from multicomponent meltblown filaments and an absorbent, wherein the absorbent material is substantially uniformly dispersed in the z-direction is disclosed. A process of preparing the coform nonwoven web by perturbing the meltblown filaments as they are being produced is also disclosed. The coform material can be used in a variety of absorbent articles such as diapers as the primary liquid retention layer. In addition, the coform nonwoven web can be used in a variety of other articles such as wipes.
Abstract:
A method for producing a carbon fiber sheet which comprises subjecting a polyacrylonitrile oxidized fiber sheet, optionally having 0.2 to 5 wt % of a resin incorporated therein, to a treatment of compression in the thickness direction under conditions of 150 to 300 DEG C and 5 to 100 Mpa (when no resin is incorporated, 10 to 100 Mpa) to prepare a compressed oxidized fiber sheet having a bulk density of 0.40 to 0.80 g/cm and compressed with a compression ratio of 40 to 75 %, and then firing the compressed oxidized fiber sheet. The resultant carbon fiber sheet has a thickness of 0.15 to 1.0 mm, a bulk density of 0.15 to 0.45 g/cm , a carbon fiber content of 95 mass % or more, a compression deformation ratio of 10 to 35 %, an electric resistance value of 6 m OMEGA or more and a degree of feeling of 5 to 70 g.

Abstract:
A filament non-woven fabric comprises thermally adhesive conjugated filaments comprising a first component that contains not less than 20 weight % of ethylene-acrylic ester-maleic anhydride copolymer and that is formed in at least a part of the filament surface in the longitudinal direction of the filament, and a second component that is a crystalline thermoplastic resin having a melting point higher than that of the first component. At least the first component contains an inorganic powder and the content of the inorganic powder is 500 to 50 000 weight ppm with respect to filament. The present invention can provide the non-woven fabric comprising filaments which is excellent in the high adhesive property, low temperature adhesive property, adhesion property to other kinds of materials, hand feeling such as softness or touch, etc., and uniformity. Furthermore, the operating efficiency such as the spinning property is desirable. Absorbent articles can be made using the above-mentioned non-woven fabric comprising filaments.
Abstract:
Fibrous web electrets are given added properties (1) through inclusion of a particulate material, such as a flame-retardant agent, in less than all the layers of a plural-layer film from which fibers are fibrillated, and by use of a brominated derivative of bisphenol A as the flame-retardant agent.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a nonwoven fabric comprising at least one polymer comprising a polyester and at least one filler comprising calcium carbonate. The present invention further relates to a process of producing such a nonwoven fabric as well as to the use of calcium carbonate as filler in a nonwoven fabric comprising at least one polymer comprising a polyester.
Abstract:
A method of making an electret article, from a polymeric article that has a zeta potential of greater than or less than -7.5 millivolts. The article is charged by contacting it with an aqueous liquid that has a pH and conductivity as follows: (i) if the article has a zeta potential of -7.5mV or less, then the contacting liquid has pH greater than 7 and a conductivity of 5 to 9,000 microSiemens per centimeter; and (ii) if the article has a zeta potential of greater than -7.5mV, then the contacting liquid has a pH of 7 or less and a conductivity of 5 to 5,500 microSiemens per centimeter. An electret article made in this manner can provide improved electret performance, particularly in electret filtration articles.
Abstract:
