Abstract:
The present invention is directed to methods and compositions which include nitrate amino acid chelates that can increase the metabolic activity or metal concentration in animals and that can increase metabolic activity and nitrogen content in plants. In one embodiment, a nitrate-complexed amino acid composition can comprise a metal, an amino acid ligand, and a nitrate, wherein the amino acid ligand is chelated to the metal forming an amino acid chelate and the nitrate is complexed to the amino acid chelate. In another embodiment, a pitrate-chelated amino acid composition can comprise a metal, an amino acid ligand, and a nitrate, wherein the amino acid ligand and the nitrate are chelated to the metal forming a nitrate-chelated amino acid chelate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a series of attractant compositions which can be used for detecting, monitoring and controlling populations of Tephritidae of economic interest, particularly the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata. Preferably, the mass capture technique is used for control purposes.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a composition comprising an amine oxide and an aqueous copper amine complex. Another embodiment of the present invention is a method for preserving and/or waterproofing a wood substrate by contacting the composition with the wood substrate. Yet another embodiment is an article comprising a wood substrate and the composition of the present invention. This composition has high efficacy against fungi, including copper tolerant fungi such as brown rot and soft rot, and is phase stable at high concentrations. Additionally, the amine oxide in the composition may impact waterproofing properties. The composition of the present invention is halide free and is environmentally friendly.
Abstract:
Provided are combinations comprising terbinafine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a NO source. The combination may be a synergistic combination. Also provided are methods of treating and/or preventing a fungal infection in a subject comprising administering terbinafine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to the subject; and administering a NO source to the subject, thereby treating and/or preventing the fungal infection in the subject. The dose of terbinafine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and the dose of the NO source administered to the subject may achieve a synergistic effect.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a polymer comprising a plurality of polymeric arms extending from a core, wherein on contact with an aqueous medium the polymer releases nitric oxide (NO) for an extended period of time. The invention also relates to the use of the polymer to promote dispersal of, or prevent or inhibit formation of, a biofilm.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a wood preservative composition comprising an amine oxide and an isothiazolone. Another embodiment of the present invention is a method for preserving and/or waterproofing a wood substrate by contacting the composition with the wood substrate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to proteinase inhibitors and in particular cystatins which have been modified so as to enhance their effective or synthetically manufactured counterpatrts. The modification including either site directed alterations in the structure of the protein and/or the production of hybrid molecules.
Abstract:
A water-soluble granular composition including at least 40% of at least one plant growth regulator, at least one binder, at least one disaccharide and at lease one surfactant; as well as methods for making and using the composition are disclosed. The water-soluble granular composition advantageously improves preparation of a solid plant growth regulator formulation for spray application, as such composition swiftly dissolves, is easily metered for application, can be more highly concentrated and is dust-free. A presently preferred water-soluble granular composition includes at least 40% of at least one gibberellin as the plant growth regulator.
Abstract:
A synergistic composition and method for controlling biological growth in industrial fluids are disclosed, wherein the composition comprises stabilized sodium hypobromite and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of coco alkyldimethylamine oxide, n-coco alkyltrimethylenediamine, tetra-alkyl phosphonium chloride, 7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylic acid and 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazoline-3-one.
