Abstract: The present disclosure describes technology for preventing hypothermal injuries that are related to cryoablation. In some variations, a device may comprise a cryoballoon that is coupled to an elongate member at a proximal portion of the cryoballoon. A temperature probe may be disposed via the elongate member and may be configured to extend from a distal portion of the cryoballoon to one or more structures that are distal to the site of occlusion from the cryoballoon. Additionally or alternatively, in some variations, a device can include a cryoballoon protection device that is disposed distal to the cryoballoon. The cryoballoon protection device may be filled with an inert gas during a cryoablation procedure.

Abstract: A mechanism for generating two or more contact indicators indicating whether an inflatable balloon of a balloon therapy catheter is in contact with the boundaries of an anatomical cavity. The mechanism obtains an anatomical model of the anatomical cavity, determines a location of a balloon therapy catheter with respect to the anatomical cavity, and uses this information, together with one or more geometric properties of the inflatable balloon, to derive the two or more contact indicators.

Abstract: A catheter system for ablation of tissue around a blood vessel, e.g., the pulmonary artery, to reduce neural activity of nerves surrounding the blood vessel. The catheter system includes an elongate shaft having a proximal portion coupled to a handle, and a distal portion. The distal portion includes a transducer and an expandable anchor, which may be actuated to transition between a collapsed delivery state and an expanded deployed state where the anchor centralizes the transducer within the blood vessel. The transducer may be actuated to emit energy to reduce neural activity of the nerves surrounding the blood vessel. Systems and method are further provided for confirming that neural activity of the nerves surround the blood vessel has been sufficiently reduced.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a system for optical tissue interrogation comprises a catheter having a plurality of electrodes disposed in an array at a distal end of the catheter, the plurality of electrodes being configured to deliver ablation energy to tissue; and one or more optical fibers extending through the catheter to deliver light from a light source to the tissue and to deliver optical information comprising nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrogen (NADH) fluorescence from the tissue to a sensor, wherein each electrode of the plurality of electrodes is associated with at least one of the one or more optical fibers.
