Abstract: A sample plate for a thermal cycler suitable for performing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) procedure includes a base plate and a number of reaction vessels extending upward from the base plate. The sample plate further includes a vertical wall surrounding an outer perimeter defined by the reaction vessels. The vertical wall can be a continuation vertical wall, an intermittent vertical wall, or a perforated vertical wall. The intermittent vertical wall can include a plurality of wall portions, each of which plurality of wall portions is separated from other wall portions via a plurality of gaps.

Abstract: The present teachings relate to a method of making a biological sample collection container, an internally coated biological sample collection container, and uses of the same, particularly for omic analysis. A reagent (or a reagent precursor) is deposited in a liquid state at least partially along at least one side wall of the container. The reagent precursor is dried to form a dried coating having a predefined pattern and topology along at least a portion of the at least one side wall. A container thus results having a coating that includes, in a dried state, a stabilizer agent, or reaction product of a stabilizer agent and an anticoagulant, and upon collection of a sample enables stabilization of any present white blood cells, cell-free nucleic acids, extracellular vesicles, circulating tumor cells, proteins, metabolites, lipids, or any combination thereof, and preserving them in sufficient quantity and quality for omic analysis.

Abstract: A device for sorting biological cells comprises a flow channel configured to pass a flow of liquid carrying the biological ceils. The flow channel comprises at least one zone associated with a cell category. Each zone of the flow channel comprises at least one surface coated with molecules having an affinity to the cell category associated with the zone, the at least one surface of the zone being configured to modify, by the molecules of the surface, a movement of a cell belonging to the associated cell category of the zone as the cell passes the zone. The device comprises a detector configured to detect a cell exhibiting at least one modified movement in one zone of the flow channel, and to transmit a trigger signal based on the detection of the cell. The device further comprises an actuator configured to divert the detected cell based on the trigger signal.

Abstract: La presente invención se refiere a un sistema microfluídico basado en bombas y válvulas capilares pasivas, que permite un proceso de medición discontinuo y autónomo durante periodos de tiempo prolongados. El sistema microfluídico comprende: al menos una cámara de medición, al menos una entrada para la introducción de un fluido corporal, un canal de admisión microfluídico que comunica mediante comunicación de fluido la entrada con la cámara de medición, al menos un sensor adecuado para medir un parámetro de un analito de un fluido corporal. Una bomba de fluido pasiva está en comunicación de fluido con la cámara de medición, y está adaptada para generar una presión capilar mayor que la presión de generación de fluido corporal. Una válvula de retención está interpuesta entre la cámara de medición y la bomba de fluido, y la válvula pasiva de retención está configurada para detener el flujo de fluido corporal durante un periodo de tiempo determinado, cuando la cámara de medición se llena con fluido corporal. La invención proporciona un dispositivo robusto, capaz de recoger y transportar un fluido corporal, preferiblemente sudor, para mediciones repetitivas y electroquímicas.
