A variety of systems and methods are described which quickly and conveniently provide for the selective transmission of individual solid pharmaceutical products from a common location into individual blister package product cavities. In accordance with the preferred exemplary embodiments, an automated alignment mechanism alters the orientation of solid pharmaceutical products that are initially arranged randomly in a two-dimensional array into one or more linear transmission systems (16). Each linear transmission system is essentially a one-dimensional stack of solid pharmaceutical products (12), vitamins or other elements. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, after the solid pharmaceutical products have been arranged in one or more of the linear transmission systems or vertical stacks, the solid pharmaceutical products are selectively transmitted into individual product package blister cavities or into product package templates having locations corresponding to the blister package cavities.

A device for manufacturing a crosslaid fibre web comprises a first conveyor belt (10) and a second conveyor belt (20), which are oriented in two different directions, wherein the second conveyor belt (20) adjoins a side of the first conveyor belt (10). During operation of the device, the first conveyor belt (10) transports longitudinal fibre web segments (5), which are conveyed to the second conveyor belt (20) in a conveyance region (12). During transportation by the first conveyor belt (10), a conveyance area (35) of the longitudinal fibre web segments (5) projects with respect to the side of the first conveyor belt (10). The device comprises a guiding belt (60) for supporting a portion (36) of this conveyance area (35), in order to guarantee that, in the conveyance region (12), the longitudinal fibre web segments (5) may be conveyed to the second conveyor belt (20) in a completely outstretched fashion.

Also a sealing protrusion (64) is arranged on the connection surface (48) for compressing a gasket (42) being interposed between the positioning device (38) and the base part (28). A height (Ha) of the abutment protrusion (60) is bigger than a height (Hs) of the sealing protrusion (64). Method and systems of automated document processing described herein include activating in sequence a plurality of illumination modules of an illumination source to illuminate a document, where the plurality of illumination modules are located at different positions relative to the document. The document can be imaged each time the document is illuminated by an illumination module to provide a plurality of images. A shadow profile of the document can be obtained based on the plurality of images. One or more of a boundary of the document and presence of a fastener attached to the document can be identified using the shadow profile. Any fasteners present may be removed using a robot arm.

The invention relates to devices for aligning sheets (1), which are overlapped with an offset and supplied to the device by a stream feeder and which can be transferred to a device (63) that is located downstream, after alignment of the front edge and one lateral edge of the sheets. At least part of a sheet can be brought to rest on the periphery of an alignment cylinder (62), which is used to align the front edge of the sheet by means of front lay marks located on the periphery of said cylinder. At least one recess is provided on the periphery of the alignment cylinder, which, by the application of a negative pressure to said recess allows at least part of the sheet to be fixed by friction on the periphery of the alignment cylinder, in such a way that in the contact zone, drive forces from said cylinder can be transferred by friction to the sheet. A measuring device (64) determines the offset of a lateral edge of the sheet in relation to a predetermined set alignment. A transversal displacement device is used to align a lateral edge of the sheet in accordance with the measurement result of the measuring device. The acceleration and/or speed and/or angle of rotation of the drive motor for driving the rotation of the alignment cylinder can be controlled or adjusted according to predetermined laws of motion, in particular in accordance with the angle of rotation of the alignment cylinder.

A printing system comprises an air-transmissive platen, a vacuum source, a cap and a controller. The vacuum source is configured to draw air through the platen to bias print media towards the platen. The cap is provided on a surface of the platen, between the vacuum source and the platen. The cap is configured to limit air flow through the platen, and comprises a plurality of closable openings provided in a plurality of zones along a length of the cap in a print media advance direction. The controller is configured to selectively open or close the openings of each of the plurality of zones to permit airflow through a portion of the platen overlain by print media and limit airflow through a portion of the platen not overlain by print media.

This disclosure is directed to system for transferring a substrate, such as a microscope slide, and holding the substrate within at least one device. The system includes a holder for holding the substrate and a gripper for transferring the substrate, such as between a cassette or stack and the holder. A method is also discussed herein.
