Abstract: A high melt strength resin composition includes at least a) non-functionalized polypropylene, b) at least one acrylate such as zinc diacrylate, calcium diacrylate or aluminum triacrylate in a total amount of from 0.1 to 5 % by weight based on the weight of non-functionalized polypropylene, and c) at least one acid neutralizer in a total amount of from 0.005 to 5 % by weight based on the total weight of the at least one acrylate. The resin composition is compounded at a processing temperature between 185°C and 260°C to obtain the high melt strength polypropylene.

Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer composition comprises a polyethylene polymer composition and a salt of bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylic acid. The polyethylene polymer composition can have a Melt Relaxation Ratio of 1.5 or greater. A method for molding a thermoplastic polymer composition comprises the steps of (a) providing an apparatus comprising a die and a mold cavity; (b) providing the thermoplastic polymer composition described above; (c) heating the thermoplastic polymer composition to melt the thermoplastic polymer composition; (d) extruding the molten thermoplastic polymer composition through the die to form a parison; (e) capturing the parison in the mold cavity; (f) blowing a pressurized fluid into the parison to inflate the parison and conform it to the interior surface of the mold cavity; (g) allowing the molded article to cool so that the molded article retains its shape; and (h) removing the molded article from the mold cavity.

Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer composition comprises a polyethylene polymer composition and a salt of bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylic acid. The polyethylene polymer composition can have a Melt Relaxation Index of 2 or greater. A method for molding a thermoplastic polymer composition comprises the steps of (a) providing an apparatus comprising a die with an annular orifice, a means for blowing pressurized fluid into a tube exiting the die orifice, and a means for drawing and collecting the tube; (b) providing the thermoplastic polymer composition described above; (c) heating the thermoplastic polymer composition to melt the thermoplastic polymer composition; (d) extruding the molten thermoplastic polymer composition through the die to form a tube; (e) blowing a pressurized fluid into the tube to inflate the tube while simultaneously drawing it; (f) allowing the film to cool; and (g) collecting the film.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polymer composition comprising: (a) a propylene- based polymer having a melt mass-flow rate of ≥ 5.0 and ≤ 90.0 g/10 min, preferably ≥ 10.0 and ≤ 50.0 g/10 min, as determined in accordance with ASTM D1238 (2013) at 230°C under a load of 2.16 kg; and (b) ≥ 5.0 and ≤ 30.0 wt%, with regard to the total weight of the polymer composition, of an ethylene-based polymer having: • a melt mass-flow rate of ≥ 3.0 and ≤ 30.0 g/10 min, as determined in accordance with ASTM D1238 (2013) at 190°C under a load of 2.16 kg; • a density of ≥ 840 and ≤ 870 kg/m3, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792 (2008); and • a content of ≥ 25.0 and ≤ 50.0 wt% of moieties derived from 1-octene, with regard to the total weight of the ethylene- based polymer. Such polymer composition demonstrates improved low temperature impact strength, determined as Izod impact strength at -40 °C and/or at -30°C, as well as desirable toughness, determined as tensile modulus, whilst having good flowability in injection moulding and thereby allowing complex, thin-walled objects to be shaped.

Abstract: A biodegradable bioplastic composition of from 80 wt% to 95 wt% of a polymer having one or more thermoplastic polyester polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and from 5 wt% to 20 wt% an organic dispersed within the polymer. The biodegradable bioplastic composition is devoid of petrochemically derived components, fossil fuel derived components, processing aids, and plasticizer additives. A process is also disclosed for preparing the biodegradable bioplastic composition. The process involves compounding one or more thermoplastic polyester polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and an organic to form a mixture and homogenizing the mixture. Homogenizing includes feeding the mixture to a first extruder and extruding the mixture to form a composite composition and feeding the composite composition to a second extruder and extruding the composite composition to form the biodegradable bioplastic composition.
