The compositions comprise a photocatalyst that produces a photocatalytic effect in the presence of ultraviolet radiation; a dye that produces a characteristic change in response to the photocatalytic effect; and a binder, wherein the dye and the photocatalyst are dispersed in the binder, and wherein the composition is calibrated such that the characteristic change of the dye occurs in response to a predetermined amount of ultraviolet radiation.

Disposable dosimeter for sun radiation comprising polymeric matrix with distributed therein at least one active chemical compound capable to change its original color to a new color due to a reversible photo-chemical reaction induced upon exposing the dosimeter to UV radiation. The transparency of the matrix is sufficient to enable easy visual detection of the change of the original color to the new color. The matrix is provided with porous structure suitable for absorbing thereinto of a sunscreen lotion when it is applied to the dosimeter.

The present invention relates to a sensitive element for an ultraviolet radiation detector, wherein said element comprises an alkaline-halide monocrystal of the potassium group which is doped with sensitising impurities consisting of sodium cations. The above-mentioned components are selected in the following proportions: between 99.9990 and 99.9999 wt.% of the alkaline-halide monocrystal of the potassium group, and between 0.0001 and 0.001 wt.% of sodium cations. The alkaline-halide monocrystal of the potassium group consists of iodinated potassium. This invention also relates to a method for producing the sensitive element for an ultraviolet radiation detector, wherein said method involves growing an alkaline-halide monocrystal of the potassium group from a mixture, annealing the crystal at a temperature of between 500 and 580 DEG C for 4 to 6 hours in sodium vapours, and cooling the crystal. Before the cooling step, the crystal is submitted to an additional annealing process in open air for 90 minutes and at a temperature of between 500 and 540 DEG C.
