摘要: A vehicular head-up display (HUD) for displaying an image to a user of a vehicle having a windshield (15) includes an image projector (14) outputting a collimated image and an optical aperture expander. The optical aperture expander includes a light-guide optical element (LOE) (10) having two major external surfaces (30a, 30b). The image projector (14) injects the collimated image so as to propagate within the LOE by internal reflection at the major external surfaces. The LOE also has a set of parallel partially-reflecting internal surfaces (12) which progressively couple out the image illumination from the LOE. The optical aperture expander is deployed such that the image illumination coupled-out of the LOE (12) follows a light path including a reflection from a surface associated with the windshield (15) of the vehicle so as to be visible to the user while the user looks at a scene beyond the windshield.

摘要: Optical sensors and particularly gimbaled optical sensors transmit an active signal at a given wavelength and receive passive signals over a range of wavelengths while controlling pointing without benefit of measuring and locating the active signal return. The sensor includes a Tx/Rx Aperture Sharing Element (ASE) is configured to block the received active signal (e.g. reflections off a target in a scene) and process only the passive emissions. These optical sensors may, for example, be used with guided munitions or autonomous vehicles.

摘要: The system includes: a sample holder configured to hold a stained tissue sample; an objective positioned to gather and focus light from the stained tissue sample; and a white light source that produces unpolarized white light and a polarizing beam splitter that allows one polarization direction of the white light to pass through to form an illumination beam having a first polarization direction, which is directed through the objective and onto the stained tissue sample causing the stained tissue sample to remit light that passes back through the objective and into the polarizing beam splitter. The polarizing beam splitter divides the remitted light into two orthogonally polarized remitted light beams, wherein one of the beams provides an imaging beam, which has a second polarization direction that is substantially orthogonal to the first polarization direction. Finally, the system includes an imaging device, which captures the imaging beam.

摘要: A multimode optical waveguide network comprises a parent waveguide and a plurality of child waveguides. Each waveguide is a multimode optical waveguide having a first surface region, multiple second surface regions, and at least one guiding element attached to a surface of the waveguide or embedded within the waveguide, each second surface region of the parent waveguide optically coupled to the first surface region of a corresponding child waveguide. The guiding element(s) of the parent waveguide is arranged to guide a beam, from or to its first surface region, to or from any selected second surface region of its multiple second surface regions. The guiding element(s) of each of the waveguides is configurable for selecting the second surface region of that waveguide and/or responsive to at least one beam characteristic for selecting the second surface region of that waveguide via modulation of the at least one beam characteristic.

摘要: An optical tweezer phonon laser system and method for modulating mechanical vibrations of an optically levitated mechanical oscillator to produce coherence is disclosed. A feedback loop is configured to simultaneously supply an electro-optic modulator with an amplification signal and a cooling signal representing an amplification force linear in the mechanical oscillator momentum and a cooling force nonlinear in the mechanical oscillator variable position and linear in the momentum, respectively controlling the intensity of a trap beam levitating the mechanical oscillator.

摘要: 一种光纤陀螺光路的多次光学倍增装置及方法,属于光纤传感技术领域。在光纤陀螺中采用了两个偏振分束/合束器(4、8)和偏振开关(5、7),其分别位于保偏光纤敏感线圈(6)两端的正、反向光路中。偏振分束/合束器(4、8)用于将两束正交偏振光耦合到一根光纤中,或将一束输入光分离成两束正交线偏光输出,偏振开关(5、7)可以通过控制电压使通过其中的线偏振光实现90度的偏振旋转或保持不变。通过两个偏振分束/合束器(4、8)的特定放置与耦合以及对偏振开关(5、7)电压的调制,入射光信号可以沿光纤陀螺保偏光纤敏感线圈(6)循环传输,从而达到光学多次倍增的效果,方案结构简单、成本低廉,在不增加光纤长度的前提下可有效提高光纤陀螺的测量精度。

摘要: A multipass scanner usable e.g. in a near-eye display is disclosed. The multipass scanner scans a light beam angularly, forming an image in angular domain. The multipass scanner includes a light source, a tiltable reflector, and a multipass coupler that couples light emitted by the light source to the tiltable reflector, receives the reflected light and couples it back to the tiltable reflector to double the scanning angle. Then, the multipass coupler couples the light reflected at least twice from the tiltable reflector to an exit pupil of the scanner. A pupil-replicating waveguide disposed at the exit pupil of the scanner extends the image in angular domain. Multiple reflections of the light beam from the tiltable reflector enable one to increase the angular scanning range and associated field of view of the display without having to increase the angular scanning range of the tiltable reflector.
