One method may include receiving a user request for content with metadata from a client by a content distribution network (CDN), parsing the user request for content to generate an evaluation of the metadata, determining a routing decision representing a selection of one of a plurality of origin services for the user request for content based on the evaluation of the metadata, transmitting the user request for content to the selected one of the plurality of origin services based on the routing decision, receiving a response to the user request for content from the selected one of the plurality of origin services, and sending the response to the client.

Abstract: Systems and methods for contextual layers for digital content are provided. Contextual information regarding a digital content stream may be stored in memory. Different sets of the contextual information may be associated with different predefined parts of the digital content stream. A request may be received from a user device over a communication network. Such request may concern context for a scene within the digital content stream, The scene may be identified as associated with at least one of the predefined parts of the digital content stream, One of the stored sets of contextual information may be retrieved based on the at least one predefined part of the digital content stream. A contextual layer may be generated based on the retrieved set of contextual information. Such contextual layer may include a presentation of the retrieved set of contextual information to be overlaid on at least part of the scene within the digital content stream.

Abstract: A method (300) for context-dependent in-call video codec switching includes receiving an indication (136) that a far-side endpoint (110) includes a capability to switch from an initial video codec (132) to a secondary video codec during a call. During a call (130) with the far-side endpoint, the method includes determining that a performance of an encoder satisfies a codec switching threshold (222). The codec switching threshold indicates that the performance of the encoder justifies switching from the initial video codec mid-stream of the call. During a call with the far-side endpoint, the method also includes switching from the initial video codec initially negotiated to govern the call to the secondary video codec.

Abstract: According to embodiments of the disclosure, information of higher and lower quality encoded video segments is used to limit Rate-Distortion Optimization (RDO) for each Coding Unit Tree (CTU). A method first encodes the highest bit-rate segment and consequently uses it to encode the lowest bit-rate video segment. Block structure and selected reference frame of both highest and lowest bit-rate video segments are used to predict and shorten RDO process for each CTU in middle bit-rates. The method delays just one frame using parallel processing. This approach provides time-complexity reduction compared to the reference software for middle bit-rates while degradation is negligible.

An interface to a presentation engine to enable real-time rendering of a plurality of objects is created whereby the plurality of objects are logically organized together through a plurality of scene graphs, and whereby the plurality of scene graphs is organized a media interchange format. Geometry information of the plurality of scene graphs is updated through the interface to a representation engine. The plurality of objects is streamed based on multi-resolution or multi-tesselation of heterogenous visual geometric objects in each of the scene graphs from among the plurality of scene graphs using the media interchange format.
