    Abstract: Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for identifying emerging viewing patterns for visual media such as still images and videos. Emerging viewing patterns are identified by identifying visual tags for visual media viewed by users, selecting a subset of the tags by applying a taxonomy-based filter, generating pattern candidates from the subset, evaluating consumption metrics for each of the generated patterns, and ranking the generated pattern candidates responsive to the consumption metrics to identify emerging viewing patterns for the users.

    Abstract: A method of processing and delivering video content is disclosed. An embodiment of the method maintains a raw version of a video program at a server system. Before receiving any request to stream the video program from the server to a client device, a prefetching routine is performed on the video program to transcode and segments a leading portion of the video program. Before receiving any request to stream the video program from the server to the client device, the prefetched video segments are stored in cache memory of the server. The server receives a request to stream the video program to the client device. In response to the request, the prefetched video segments are streamed from the cache memory. The prefetching routine is also performed on the video program to transcode and segment a future portion of the video program, resulting in additional prefetched video segments

    Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for determining which of two multimedia devices to use to process a multimedia signal. A user may select a multimedia program from an interactive program guide. The first device will determine whether the multimedia specifications of the selected program exceed the capabilities of the first device. If so, the first device will transmit the multimedia signal to the second device without attempting to process it, and instruct the second device to process the signal and output the data obtained therefrom. If not, the first device will process the signal and transmit the multimedia data obtained from the signal to the second device for output.

    Abstract: This disclosure covers systems and methods that both transmit a live video stream from a broadcaster device to viewer devices and relay video clips of reactions (by viewers to the live video stream) to the broadcaster device during presentation of the live video stream. In certain embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods facilitate viewers capturing video clips of reactions to a live video stream using a viewer device and, in turn, transmit video clips received from the viewer device to a broadcaster device during broadcast of the live video stream. For instance, in some embodiments, the systems and methods present the video clips of a viewer's reaction to the broadcaster device during a live-video-stream broadcast. Additionally, in some embodiments, the systems and methods present video clips of other viewers' reactions to a viewer device during a live-video-stream broadcast.

    Abstract: Implementations disclose leveraging aggregated network statistics for enhancing quality and user experience for live video streaming from mobile devices. A method includes receiving, by a processing device of a client device, a bandwidth parameter corresponding to aggregated network statistics for at least one of a current geographic location of the client device or a current network of the client device, initializing an upload quality parameter of an upload session based on the received bandwidth parameter, the upload session comprising upload of content from the client device, and modifying, by the processing device, the upload quality parameter during the upload session based on updated bandwidth parameters corresponding to aggregated network conditions for at least one of new geographic locations of the client device or new networks of the client device, the upload quality parameter being used to control a format of the upload session.
