A method of operating a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a SS/PBCH block, decoding a content of a PBCH in the SS/PBCH block, and determining whether the wireless communication system operates with shared spectrum channel access based on the content of the PBCH. The method further includes determining the content of the PBCH in a first manner based on determining that the wireless communication system operates with shared spectrum channel access or determining the content of the PBCH in a second manner based on determining that the wireless communication system operates without shared spectrum channel access.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently allocating resources for multicast feedback from one or more user equipment (UEs) and efficiently retransmitting information in transport blocks to the one or more UEs. If a UE fails to decode one or more transport blocks of a set of transport blocks from a base station, the UE may report feedback, such as a negative acknowledgment (NACK), to the base station. The base station may receive the feedback from the UE and potentially from other UEs that failed to decode one or more transport blocks of the set of transport blocks, and the base station may multicast one or more outer-coded transport blocks to the UEs. Each of the outer-coded transport blocks may include a different combination (for example, a linear combination) of transport blocks of the set of transport blocks.

A method of operating a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a synchronization signals and physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) block; determining a numerology of the SS/PBCH block, wherein the numerology includes a sub-carrier spacing (SCS) and a cyclic prefix (CP) length; and determining a SS/PBCH block pattern based on the numerology, the SS/PBCH block pattern including candidate SS/PBCH blocks that are mapped to slots within a half frame and a minimum gap between neighboring candidate SS/PBCH blocks, wherein: the minimum gap is 0 symbol, based on a determination that the SCS included in the numerology of the SS/PBCH block is 120 kHz or 240 kHz; or the minimum gap is 1 symbol, based on a determination that the SCS included in the numerology of the SS/PBCH block is 480 kHz or 960 kHz.
