A modified compression moulding arrangement where the compression moulding tool has been modified to allow for the use of pre-impregnated pre-form sheets in order to produce class A automotive structural parts in high volume. The pre-impregnated pre-form has continuous un-chopped fibers that extend across an entire length of the pre-impregnated pre-form. The pre-impregnated pre-form is then placed in an open compression moulding tool that has a bottom half and a top half that are movable between an open position and a closed position. When the mould tool is in the closed position, the top half and bottom half create a forming cavity that is defined by a forming surface of the top half and a forming surface of the bottom half. The forming surface of the bottom half has a boundary defined by a run-off edge and an upshear that is necessary for forming a class A structural automotive component using pre-impregnated pre-form material.

A disc recliner comprises a fixed guide plate coupled to a rotatable tooth plate. Pawls are movable between a first position interlocking the guide plate and tooth plate in a locked condition and a second position disengaged from the tooth plate in an unlocked condition to allow pivotal movement therebetween. A shaft extends through the guide plate and the tooth plate and a cam is fixedly mounted on the shaft for engagement with the pawls. A drive nut is fixedly mounted to the guide plate for rotation therewith. A drive screw is fixedly mounted to the shaft and matingly engaged with the drive nut wherein rotation of the shaft rotates the drive screw and the drive nut causes lateral movement of the shaft and cam along an axis to drive the pawls between the first and second positions thereby actuating the disc recliner between a locked and unlocked conditions.

A power-release door lock system for an automotive door having a latch, including a ratchet (18) and pawl (20), and an electro-mechanical exterior latch release mechanism (220) for actuating the pawl to release the ratchet. The system includes a controller (210) and a pressure sensitive switch (216) mounted to an outside door handle (214) of the automotive door and electrically connected to the controller. The controller is programmed to disable the pressure sensitive switch in response to a predetermined "lock" signal and enable the pressure sensitive switch in response to a pre-determined "unlock" signal, in which case the controller energizes the exterior latch release mechanism to release the ratchet in the event the pressure sensitive switch is actuated. The system eliminates the need for an exterior lock assembly and its attendant inside lock button or rod.
