The aim of the invention is to ensure a fixing of the plug that is as reliable as possible as well as a secure closure. To this end, the plug has, on its upper side and on its lower side, dimensionally stable anchoring elements (21, 22) for the end plates (6, 7) of adjacent vertebral bodies (1, 2) and has a deformable structure in the area between the upper side and lower side.

The invention relates to a kit for an intervertebral implant (1), which comprises an upper and a lower end plate (4, 5) which are fitted to adjacent vertebral bodies (2,3) and bearing elements which are arranged between the end plates and which can be used to pivot opposite supports of the end plates. According the invention, the outer sides of the end plates, which are oriented towards the vertebral body, comprise anchoring projections (10, 11). The kit comprises end plates of a first type which comprise at least one anchoring projection which is embodied as a fin or a rib (9) and which extends in a parallel manner in the direction of insertion of the intervertebral implant, and end plates of the second type, whereby the anchoring projections thereof are different from fins or ribs, which extend in a parallel manner in the direction of insertion in such a manner that the anchoring of the end plates can be adapted to the anatomical features. Also, for each intervertebral implant, the kit comprises end plates of the first type and also of the second type. The invention also relates to an intervertebral implant which is constructed in said manner.
