Provided are a process for producing a compatibilized resin including reacting a cyanate compound, a siloxane resin having a hydroxyl group at an end thereof, and an epoxy resin at a specified rate of reaction; a thermosetting resin composition containing (A1) a compatibilized resin produced by the foregoing process or (A2) a thermosetting resin obtained by reacting a cyanate compound and a siloxane resin having a hydroxyl group at an end thereof at a specified rate of reaction, and (B) fused silica having been subjected to a surface treatment with a trimethoxysilane compound; and a prepreg, a laminate, and a wiring board each using the same. The foregoing thermosetting resin composition is excellent in terms of all of low thermal expansion, adhesiveness to copper foil, heat resistance, flame retardancy, copper-clad heat resistance (T-300), dielectric characteristics, and drillability, achieves the high density and high reliability of wiring boards required at present, and can be widely used for production of electronic appliances and the like.

The invention relates to a method for producing thin, porous molded bodies from silicon compound S, wherein, in a first step, a solution or suspension of silicon compound S or starting silicon compound SA is formed in a mixture of solvent L1 and solvent L2, in a second step the solution or suspension is introduced into a mold, in a third step solvent L1 is removed from the solution or suspension until the solubility of silicon compound S in the mixture of solvent L1 and solvent L2 is fallen short of, wherein a silicon compound S enriched phase A and a low silicon compound S phase B is formed and the structure formation thus occurs by means of phase A, and in a fourth step the solvent L2 and residue of solvent L1 are removed, wherein, if silicon compound S is formed from starting silicon compound SA, this occurs in one or more steps which are selected from the first, second and third step. The invention also relates to the molded bodies which can be produced according to the invention and to the use thereof.

Spherical crosslinked organic particles exhibit a good dispersibility in thermoplastic resins, thermosetting resins, paints, coatings, cosmetics, rubbers, and toners and carriers employed in electrostatic development. Highly efficient methods for preparing these crosslinked organic particles are provided. Suspensions of crosslinked organic particles have excellent handling properties, and are highly blendable with other components. Highly efficient methods for preparing these suspensions are also provided. The spherical crosslinked organic particles have an average particle size of 0.1-500 µm, and can be prepared by emulsifying in water using an emulsifying agent, a fluid composition containing (A) an organic compound that has at least 2 aliphatically unsaturated bonds in each molecule, (B) a silicon-containing organic compound that has at least 2 silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms in each molecule, (C) an hydrosilylation reaction catalyst, crosslinking the fluid composition by carrying out an hydrosilylation reaction, and thereafter removing water.

A gas-permeable film contains a vinyl-type polymer that contains a pendant carbosiloxane dendrimer structure and a thermoplastic resin. The gas-permeable film has an excellent gas permeability as represented by its oxygen permeability and is also water repellent, moldable, heat resistant, and durable. It will, therefore, be useful in those applications where such characteristics are critical, for example, as a film for medical and hygiene applications, e.g., as a base film for feminine hygiene products and diapers, compresses, and adhesive plasters and adhesive bandages; and as a packaging material for oxygen absorbents, odor absorbents, perfumes and fragrances, reagents, and oxygen-reacting warming agents.

Disclosed is a solution which comprises (a) a substantially fully imidized polyimidesiloxane; and (b) a solvent which comprises at least 50 wt% of a substituted pyrrolidone having the general formula where R is aliphatic or cycloaliphatic from C 3 to C 10 . Also disclosed is a method of forming a coating on a substrate by applying the solution to the substrate and evaporating the solvent. Coatings formed from this solution are not subject to whitening as are coatings formed from the same polymers in other solvents.

Provided are silicone microparticles including 100 parts by mass of silicone elastomer spherical microparticles having a volume average particle diameter within a range from 0.1 to 100 µm, and 0.5 to 25 parts by mass of a polyorganosilsesquioxane that coats the surface of the silicone elastomer spherical microparticles, in which the silicone elastomer is capable of absorbing not less than 200 parts by mass of a polymethylsiloxane having a viscosity at 25°C of not more than 10 mm 2 /s per 100 parts by mass of the silicone elastomer. These silicone microparticles are capable of absorbing a large amount of the above types of polymethylsiloxanes, which represent low-viscosity silicones, and can therefore suppress the greasiness, stickiness, and oily film feeling of cosmetic materials containing this type of polymethylsiloxane. The silicone microparticles can be produced by hydrolyzing and condensing an organotrialkoxysilane in a water medium, in the presence of the above silicone elastomer spherical microparticles and an alkaline material, thereby coating the surface of the silicone elastomer spherical microparticles with a polyorganosilsesquioxane.

The siloxane composition, which is obtained by subjecting specific starting organopolysiloxane materials to an addition reaction in a large excess (i.e., 8 times by mass or greater as much as the starting materials) of a solvent, comprises a crosslinked organopolysiloxane, said crosslinked organopolysiloxane having a weight-average molecular weight of 5,000-300,000,000 and containing 0.1-50 mol of silethylene bond per 1,000 mol of siloxane unit, dissolved in the solvent.
