The present invention relates to a transmission apparatus and method, a reception apparatus and method, and a transmission and reception system by which content which meets the needs at the time can be acquired. A server 11 generates a script PDI-S for obtaining user side PDI-A representative of an answer of a user to a question about the tastes of the user, generates trigger information relating to execution of the PDI-S, and transmits the trigger information and the PDI-S to the client 12 in response to distribution of broadcasting content and transmits, in response to distribution of related content, provider side PDI-A representative of an answer set by a provider, to the question to the client 12. The client 12 executes the PDI-S based on the detection of the trigger information, and carries out matching between the user side PDI-A and the provider side PDI-A to determine acquisition of the related content distributed from the server 11. The present invention can be applied to a broadcasting system which broadcasts a digital television program.

The object is to provide a data structure appropriate for performing rights management for multimedia-type contents, to further provide a recording medium containing data with the data structure, a reproduction device and a reproduction method for reproducing the data. The present invention is a computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon license data for permitting a computer to use contents data comprising a plurality of resources, and the license data includes a resource-based use condition configuration structure, in which a use condition is set for the computer with respect to each of resources.

[Object] To stabilize an operation of a license server by avoiding concentration of license acquisition requests from a large number of clients at a time right after a broadcast start time of a content. [Solving Means] A web server (21) of an IPTV server sets an acquisition request time of a main license within a time period from a broadcast start time to a predetermined set time at random in accordance with an acquisition request of a license for reproducing an encrypted content, the acquisition request being from an IPTV client terminal (10), and transmits, to the IPTV client terminal (10), information on the acquisition request time of the main license and a temporary license including a temporary content key that corresponds to a reproduction of the broadcast content from the broadcast start time to the predetermined set time. A license server (22) transmits the main license including a main content key that corresponds to a whole reproduction of the content in accordance with an acquisition request of the main license, which is executed in the IPTV client terminal (10) based on the information on the acquisition request time.

At step S1, a URI of a desired content is input. At step S3, corresponding to the input URI, a proper resolution executing portion is selected. A plurality of resolution executing portions perform processes in parallel. At step S4, with reference to a correlation table that correlates identification names of contents and file names in a storing unit, a name resolving process is performed. At step S6, with reference to name resolution table data transmitted as an MPEG2 section table in a satellite broadcast, a name resolving process is performed. At step S8, by communicating with a name resolving service on a network such as DNS, a name resolving process is performed. After the name resolving processes in all methods have been completed, at step S10, an acquired location list L is sent to a content acquiring portion. The content acquiring portion references the list L and acquires a content designated by the URI.
Abstract:
At step S1, update report information is received through a receiving section or a communication control section. At step S2, received update report information is analyzed. In order to take out the content of the update report information described in XML format, the update report information is analyzed according to an XML interpretation program. At step S3, the receiving section or the communication control section is controlled according to the results of analysis in order to acquire update information corresponding to the update report information. At step S4, the update information described in XML format is analyzed at an analyzing section in order to take out the updated content. Depending on the results of analysis, content stored in a content storing section is updated based on the update information at step S5.
