Abstract:
A coating composition including a first component comprising a compound having appended thereto more than one carbamate functional group, and further including a second component reactive with said carbamate groups, which is a substituted acrylamide compound. The composition is useful as a clearcoating composition in a color-plus-clear composite coating.
Abstract:
A coating composition is disclosed comprising:
(A) a multi-functional compound comprising
(1) at least one carbamate or urea functional group, (2) at least one other functional group which may or may not be carbamate or urea, and (3) at least one hydrogen bond acceptor group that is not also a hydrogen bond donor group, with the proviso that said multi-functional compound is other than an acrylic polymer or oligomer having carbamate functional or urea groups appended to the acrylic backbone through acrylic ester side chains, a polyester polymer or oligomer that is the polycondensation reaction product of a polyol and a polyacid component, or a polyurethane that is the reaction product of a polyisocyanate component and a polyester polyol component, and (B) a curing agent comprising a plurality of groups that are reactive with the functional groups on compound (A).
Abstract:
Described are carbamates and coating compositions comprising same. Specifically disclosed is a coating composition comprising: (a) an hydroxyalkyl carbamate compound of the formula wherein R is a C 1 to C 20 organic moiety which may contain one or more constituents selected from the class consisting of heteroatoms and hydroxyl groups, and each of R i , R 2 and R 3 is independently H or CH 3 ; (b) an amino cross-linker; (c) a polymer containing active sites which, at elevated temperatures, are reactive with the amino cross-linker (b); and (d) optionally, an acid catalyst; the compound (a), the cross-linker (b) and the polymer (c) being stable relative to each other in the composition while at an ambient temperature, and reactive at elevated temperature.
Abstract:
Compounds are prepared from trifunctional isocyanurates by first reacting the isocyanurate with water, monohydric alcohol, diol or diamine. This isocyanurate is subsequently reacted to form a carbamate substituted compound, having the formula:
wherein L₁, L₂, and L₃ each independently represents a divalent linking group, and R₁ and R₂, each independently represents H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl and R₃ is the residue resulting from the reaction of isocyanate and water, monohydric alcohol, diol or diamine. These compounds are useful as crosslinking agents for curable compositions such as coating compositions.
Abstract:
AmBifunctional reactive diluent are provided for use in the preparation of high solids coatings, The diluents are of a structural configuration that they do not disturb a coating composition's stoichiometric ratio of nucleophilic and electrophilic groups.
Abstract:
An hydroxyalkyl carbamate-containing amine having the formula: wherein R is an organic moiety having at least one unreacted secondary amine group, each of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is independently H. or a C 1 to C 20 alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkyl aromatic moiety or any of the foregoing carboncontaining moieties containing one or more heteroatoms, and n is 0 or 1.
Abstract:
Provided is an aqueous liquid composition including a water-based medium containing water, a polymer having at least one type of groups selected fromhydroxyl groups and amino groups, and phosphonobutane tricarboxylic acid. The polymer is at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a polysaccharide, polyamino acid, polyvinyl alcohol, polyallylamine, polyvinylamine, a polyamidine, a polyethylenimine, and their derivatives.
Abstract:
There is provided a cured-film formation composition that forms a cured film having excellent photoreaction efficiency and solvent resistance, and high adhesion, an orientation material for photo-alignment, and a retardation material formed with the orientation material. The cured-film formation composition comprises a component (A) that is a compound having a photo-aligning group and one substituent selected from a hydroxy group, a carboxy group, and an amino group; a component (B) that is a hydrophilic polymer having one or more substituents selected from a hydroxy group, a carboxy group, and an amino group; and a component (C) that is a cross-linking agent that reacts with the component (A) and the component (B) and reacts at a temperature lower than a sublimation temperature of the component (A), wherein when the component (B) is an acrylic polymer, the cured-film formation composition further comprises a component (E) that is an adhesion enhancing component. The cross-linking agent of the component (C) may be more hydrophilic than the component (A). The orientation material is formed by forming a cured film with the cured-film formation composition and utilizing photo-alignment technique. The retardation material is obtained by applying a polymerizable liquid crystal on the orientation material and curing it.
